Matthew 11
11“Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. 13For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. 15He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Elijah himself will not come, but the two witnesses (a select group of believers) will be witnessing with supernatural power (the Elijah spirit) during the first 3 1/2 years of the tribulation.
Short answer, likely no. But maybe i meet him once. Picked up a homeless looking hitcher 1974/5ist, on way to a WAY meeting. As we talked, i ask what he do? Him say he a prophet of G_d. I ask how he survive? He just say the Lord provides & G_d sent me to you to show you these ppl (wiki Victor Paul Weirwolf? The Way} are not preaching true gospel. At the meeting he openly refuted all their doctrine. I never go again… it was either an angel or that prophet. Never see that man again, he just say his piece & leave. Him words cut thru they lies like knife in hot butter… all were speechless against that man… go figure.
10 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
Matt 17:11 Yeshua answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. 12 But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
Likewise, a strong prophetic voice (voices) will come forth in the last days to call for repentance in the darkest of times, even into the tribulation period.
11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
