There is no pronoun “he” in that verse. You are basing your argument on the VERB katechon which is properly translated as “one detaining” where the “one” is assumed in the action of “detaining”. It is NOT a specific pronoun and therefore not meant to pertain to the “man of sin” or “son of perdition” specifically. Especially when you are taking the “man of sin”, “son of perdition” from verse 3 which is in another thought that ends in verse 4 and a new thought begins in verse 5. Its the same word, katechon, in verse 6 which uses the term “WHAT withholdeth”. The same is true for the Greek VERB genetai which is properly translated “it may be becoming”. So it PROPERLY reads… “the ONE detaining now until out of the way IT may be becoming”. Understood correctly there is no specific pronoun … SOMETHING is restraining until IT is moved away and not restraining anymore. To claim the restrainer is restraining himself is completely in error and to go further to assert “he” is the “man of sin”, “son of perdition” is absolutely contrary to what was written.

“The Antichrist will rise to power as soon as the church of Jesus Christ is removed from the earth at the rapture.” David Jeremiah
Have you ever heard revered prophecy experts translate ‘falling away’ in 2 Thes 2:3? Falling away means apostasy, a departing from the faith.
I had no words when I heard David Jeremiah teach ‘apostasy’ in 2 Thes. 2:3 should NOT be translated a denial, a rejection, a falling away from the faith. He teaches falling away (apostasy) should be translated ‘departure’; the rapture of the church.
This clearly exposes how far ministers are willing to distort the timing and consequences of the coming of our Lord in order to vainly prove the rapture comes before the Man of Sin is revealed.

2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by “the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”, and by “our gathering together unto him”, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that “the day of Christ” is at hand. 3Let “no man deceive you” by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come “a falling away first”, and that “man of sin” be revealed, “the son of perdition”; 4Who opposeth and exalteth “himself” above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that “he” as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing “himself” that he is God. 5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6And now ye know what withholdeth that “he” might be revealed in “his” time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only “he” who now letteth will let, until “he” be taken out of the way. 8And then shall that “Wicked” be revealed, “whom” the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

One of the mysteries of lawlessness is that the people who know GOD’s Will turn the other way when confronted with evil, and do nothing!
