In train wrecks of varying magnitudes, the carnage spills over from the pulpit into the pews. A good many never saw this moment coming; a sizeable bunch of these churchgoers is still reeling from the shell shock in utter denial and disbelief — how on earth did we get to see the unthinkable at point-blank range?

While they have bouts of reminiscing that bring into memory those Sundays laced with sunshine and lollipops, some would even ponder about their belief in Christ. It could be a case of being cheated and mistreated as their tormented minds stomach the harsh realities. A lot of these folks would then point the finger at their pastors; they would then ask the proverbial question — why did these learned men of God not give us advance notice regarding the shape of things to come?

Perhaps they did do so but in a subtle way. It could be a particular Sunday where the sermon was solely on the Olivet Discourse, then shaking of heads amidst murmurs of disbelief as the congregation head out for a sumptuous Sunday brunch. The wars and rumours of wars would not apply to their backyard, more so for failed states far away from home. Some early bird watch person on the wall could have given a shot at Bible Prophecy on a mid-week cell group meeting – short-lived because attendees did not want to hear about the Rapture. Perhaps it could be revisited a couple of decades later was their unanimous view – the Blessed Hope could materialize way past their lifetime! Really?

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

So the antecedents of doom were making their mark with rantings and ravings about the truth. The truth tasted more like bitter herbs of therapeutic value. There was a craving for cotton candy teachings which were indeed spiritually carcinogenic. So they got what their hearts desired. The enemy was laughing because it was hook, line, and sinker scoring a direct hit! That vile cancer would spread like wildfire and, in a matter of time, engulf that ‘Christian’ set up with a wayward psyche.

It certainly did happen; before long, truths that were the backbone of Holy Writ were replaced by doctrines straight from the pit of hell. These were in direct contradiction where holiness and righteousness so mattered. Demons and the malevolent forces of wickedness more than seep through the cracks; they do damage comparable to a locust swarm. What would be salt for the sake of forestalling rot is swept away. In this instance, an unwelcome letting down of hairs spreads across the pews. Tolerance for known evils is given the thumbs up. Fornication and adultery are taken for granted. Then a form of religious pluralism takes shape; yoga, reiki, and other spirituality practices with occult roots have their place in a so-called Christian setting.

More floodgates are then opened, and the rush of lawlessness intensifies. Everything about LGBT is celebrated under the guise of love for one another. Then comes the worship of Mother Earth with critical race theory in lockstep. Almost everything about the Gospel of Truth has left the place of worship. LGBT rainbow colors greet an unsuspecting visitor to what is genuinely an indoctrination facility for Marxist ideology!

This heinous trend has indeed arrived at the point of no return. For those who dig deep into the Word of God, this reality is no stranger. “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting” (Romans 1:28).

So these individuals could do as they wished, even if it was despicable, intolerable, and abhorrent. Much worse than the law of the jungle! It’s not surprising to find heaps of sickening stuff in what looks like a church that might exceed what is found in any rough district. Being given over by the Lord to a reprobate mind has grave ramifications across the seas. With this evil infestation around the world, everything appears to be one-sided; the bad guys are seemingly winning, and they look unstoppable! All because of substantial thinning of the Lord’s hedge of protection, which is part and parcel where being given over to a debased mind is concerned.

So there is a significant crowd of people who succumb to this tidal wave of wickedness. They are willing participants in about everything unclean and reeking of abominations. Others simply flip over and deny Christ to the point of becoming ardent God-haters. Then there is a sizeable number caught in the confusion and petrified to the point of losing their sanity – these folks could go over the edge! With these figures adding up, it would be multitudes at the Great White Throne Judgment. “But evil men and imposters will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).

About everything that is provocative in nature is all a big fat lie from the father of lies. If you are in such a situation, simply turn to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. There is currently a high chance of not finding the light in what was then a church, but go directly to the Living Word, and you will find a peace which surpasses all human understanding in the Truth.
