| PentecostalTheology.comBut God said unto him, Thou fool, THIS NIGHT THY SOUL SHALL BE REQUIRED OF THEE: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
– Luke 12:20
Time waits for no man. Or the judgment either. We had a earthquake last night. theres no damage here in San Francisco that I can tell. The building gave a jolt. my table rocked. I lost my equilibrium for a moment. I didnt know what it was. But everything seems alright.
A friend and I were talking about gospel preaching and the necessity of discipleship. We certainly need the maturity and instruction that discipleship brings. But discipleship cannot replace gospel preaching. After it happened we laughed because if it was Jesus return, we were just talking about him.
We were talking about the role of discipleship in evangelism when the earthquake happened. And it occurred to me if it was my time to give an account for my life would I be ready. And how many souls thought they had all the time in the world. And in a moments time their time is up. death comes suddenly for many. In a moment its over. Some it lingers and death is slow.
In this story Jesus makes it clear that judgment is coming. Its a warning to put our affairs in order. To walk upright before God and make things right with our brother. The man wasnt a murderer or a thief or an adulterer. No but he was a fool.
