Yep. This is a major problem with much of American Christianity. People are definitely working their own good works for the church rather than the Kingdom of God. The emphasis needs to be on salvation, healing and deliverance rather than what can we do to build the church. Unless the Lord builds the church, we still labor in vain. Be Kingdom builders and God will build the church. No more carts before the horses! These are the last days.

Salvation for the average evangelical has to do with little more than where a specific individual will “spend eternity”. I would argue that and individuals eternal destination is but a small portion of soteriology from a biblical perspective. God is doing much more in salvation than merely trying to “get people in the door”
You can tell what a church believes about the mission of God by the focus and structure of their worship services. The majority of evangelical and pentecostal, especially pentecostal worship is seeker sensitive, heavy on emotionalism decisionism and Revivalism than on a renewal of covenant with God, Confession of and repentance from sin and partaking ordinarily of word and sacrament. Pentecostals aren’t alone in this, all Evangelicals need a Reformation of worship
