THE NEW SONG – Ray E Horton

The Bible speaks of “a new song” frequently, from Psalms to Revelation, and even gives us an example. Even our God sings, as the prophet tells us.

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:11 NLT).

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation” (Rev.5:9).

He Will Rejoice Over You

The Lord your God is in your midst, a Mighty One, who will save. He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will renew you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing” (Zeph 3:17).

Driving back from Pittsburgh this evening, I listened to a CD message by Ray Hughes on “The Tabernacle of David.” We are currently in a time of restoration of the Tabernacle of David, and the Holy Spirit is putting news songs on our hearts. There is transformational power in the New Song.

There is transformational power in the New Song

This is a gift for our times. Let us all “sing unto the Lord a new song,” even as did Mary when she visited Elizabeth and her baby jumped for joy in her womb

I remember times when our worship leader would be given a new song to bless the congregation. Even more than a prophetic word, it would minister life in the congregation.

Whether you can sing or not, if you have the Holy Spirit, you have the new song within you. There have been the rare times when I have felt deeply depressed and discouraged, and God would have me get up and walk around my home singing in the spirit and singing praises of new songs to him, and in short order, all heaviness would lift.

This is a gift for our times. Let us all “sing unto the Lord a new song,” even as did Mary when she visited Elizabeth and her baby jumped for joy in her womb. Mary’s song, that we now call “The Magnificat,” was a new song: “My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior… ” (Luke 1:39-56).

Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; His holy arm has shown his saving power!” (Ps 98:1 NLT).
