“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and SO WE BELIEVE THAT GOD WILL BRING WITH JESUS THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP in him.” (1 Thess. 4:13-14) [In these verses the apostle Paul comforts us who have mourned (or who are mourning) over the death of our family members and friends that have died in the Lord!] “According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.” (1 Thess. 4:15) [Our loved ones have retired out of this troublesome world, to rest from all their labors and sorrows, and they SLEEP IN JESUS, They are still in union with him, they sleep in his arms and are under his special care and protection. Their souls are in his presence, and their dust is under his care and power; so that THEY ARE NOT LOST, they are great gainers by death, and their removal out of this world defiantly into a better place!] “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST.” (1 Thess. 4:16) [The appearance of our Lord and savior, Jesus will be with pomp and power, with a shout – the shout of a king, and the power and authority of A MIGHTY KING AND CONQUEROR, with the voice of the archangel; an uncountable company of angels will be present him. Possibly one, as general of those hosts of the Lord, will make the announcement of his approach, and the glorious appearance of this great Redeemer and Judge will be proclaimed and ushered in by the trump of God!!!] “After that, we who are still alive and are left WILL BE CAUGHT UP TOGETHER WITH THEM in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. AND SO WE WILL BE WITH THE LORD FOREVER.” (1 Thess. 4:17) [We should attempt to SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER in times of sorrow, let’s make sure that we do not dampen one another’s spirits, but make sure we are a comfort to one another; and this may be done by paying serious attention to the many wonderful lessons to be learned from the doctrine of THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD, the second coming of Christ, and the glory awaiting us in that day!] “THEREFORE ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER WITH THESE WORDS.” (1 Thess. 4:18)
