THE LAST DAYS – Ray E Horton

The Last Days have been with us for over 2000 years, the age of grace. At Pentecost, Peter preaches, quoting the prophet Joel, showing us that the last days had begun with the glorious outpouring if the Holy Spirit, but there were things yet to happen which hadn’t and still haven’t occurred.

But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

In the last days it shall be,’ says God, ‘that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

“Even on My menservants and maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

“And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

“And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’” (Acts 2:16-21, quoting Joel 2:28-32).

They had experienced the promised Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the spirituals, which included tongues and prophesy. And it is available to all who will receive.

Notice that it says the outpouring will be upon “all mankind.” Well, we have indeed seen it upon the believers who have believed for the fullness of the spirit and received, and it is indeed available to all mankind who receive the new birth.

But, what about the rest. Well, it’s our job to share the Good News so that more and more people will be ready to receive from fresh outpourings, including the final outpouring.

The signs of the times show us that we are close to the end of the “last days,” but we have yet to see those signs and wonders in the sky and here on Earth that are reserved till the very end of the last days, “that great and glorious day of the Lord” when He returns.

But we are clearly close! So let us be about our destiny and redeem the time, to be about our Father’s business in the full power of the Holy Spirit to spread the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ and bring in the harvest, because “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
