Jim Price | PentecostalTheology.comThe General Assembly meets every two years and according to experts the body of knowledge in the world has almost doubled during that period of time. The delegates will not be dealing with any of this new information and we can be sure that the Church of the Nazarene folks nor the Adventists will be dealing with new knowledge either in their conventions; that’s not what the church does. Yet the discoveries that have been made in this generation; in medicine, in space, in communications and on and on will be lingering underneath the tables and in the corners of the assembly halls. Waiting for a hearing, needing a judgement to be made as concerning their viability and how they fit into the theology of each body of believers.

The move to make female minister qualified for bishops and general and state executive positions will be a great leap to the left.

It will be a great leap towards what’s right.

under epicurean rule it would be the right thing to do however church law comes under Bible hermenutical rule. Women can be prophetesses, deaconesses, teachers etc however scriptures restrict Eldership to men.
Gregory Aslan Chopoorian
a positive affirmation of qualifications for male bishops and elders is just that..not a prohibition of women in those roles…scripture, when referring to communiques and letters often does not provide us with enough info to be comprehensive in nature…alas, we often fill in the blanks with whatever suits us and call it ‘scriptural’…

This is an issue that should have been put to rest, at least no later than 1914 when women got the vote. I’m not blaming the CoG as older and more mature denominations still can’t resolve this issue. As I understand it there is neither male nor female in the sight of God, only gifts and abilities matter. We have women as heads of state, as governors, prime ministers etc. The church has been held back all these years trying to maintain the culture conditions of 2000 years ago. Holding on to old words and not listening to the present voice of the Holy Spirit. Women are good enough to be our mothers, our wives, our teachers and our nurses. I have two daughters very capable of running a cooperation, a church or a city, though they seem to be content in their own professions and guiding their own families. We need to open the doors and let the female part of the human race show us how things ought to be done.
