| PentecostalTheology.comCORPORATE FAITH, THE FAITH ENVIRONMENT,
HAS IMPORTANT INFLUENCE ON HEALING ~ Ray E Horton
On Calvary, Jesus paid not only for our sins, but for our healing, as we see in God’s Word. “By His stripes we WERE healed” (1 Peter 2:24). So, why don’t we see healing manifest among believers in every situation?
Why don’t we see more healings?
Despite a person’s faith, in an unbelieving environment, the healing power God gives us in Jesus is hampered.
Some would say it is lack of faith, and that may be true for some, but that puts the responsibility for healing on the person. No, it’s more than that. I have seen people with strong faith healed, but I have seen others with equally strong faith not receive their healing.
In Matthew 9:35 “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing EVERY disease and sickness.” Yet, in Mark 6, we see when Jesus “came to His own country” (Vs. 1), “He could do NO MIGHTY WORKS there, except that He laid His hands on A FEW sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of THEIR unbelief” (Vs. 5-6). Jesus, in His hometown, was in an unbelieving environment, and that hampered Him.
I believe it is the same among us – Jesus won our healing on Calvary, but it must be received by faith. Yet, in spite of a person’s faith, in an unbelieving environment, which some churches often are if they don’t believe in healing, Jesus’ healing power is likewise hampered. Even in faith-focused churches, corporate faith may not be what it could be.
No blame – we are learning
As the church matures with the increase in corporate faith through unity, we will increasingly see healings manifest
So, shall we blame the churches? No, we are learning, and Christians and their churches are all at a different level.
It is more than teaching and preaching faith for healing. That’s a part of it. But it is growing in the fullness of the Gospel; coming to know more richly who we are in Christ and living out of that relationship.
As the church matures in this area, which is happening, Praise the Lord, and the CORPORATE FAITH of the Body grows in unity, we will increasingly see healing manifest and breakthroughs where there were not before.
