Principles:
1. Pastors should remember the Church is not their Church, and they are under God’s leadership.
2. The Church is a gathering of people, not a place.
3. A false pastor is more concerned with growth in numbers rather than with the spiritual growth of their people.
4. Pastors who fail to call their people to live for Christ are not faithful pastors.
Scripture:
“For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.”
Acts 20:27
“Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” Acts 20:28
“…teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
See Ezekiel 34
“Behold, you are to them like a sensual song by one who has a beautiful voice and plays well on an instrument; for they hear your words but they do not practice them.” Ezekiel 33:32
“So when it comes to pass- as surely it will -then they will know that a prophet has been in their midst.” Ezekiel 33:33
“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account.” Hebrews 13:17
“Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” Acts 20:28
“…for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ…”Ephesians 4:12

#2 A false pastor is more concerned with growth in numbers rather than with the spiritual growth of their people. Philip Williams Steve Maxwell Daniel J Hesse
Michael Ellis Carter Jr.
Troy Day I felt that point was a bit extreme but I get what the writer is attempting to
Convey.
Steve Maxwell
Troy Day, sounds like a pathetic excuse of a failed pastor. All of the pastors that walk in the Spirit grow their churches.
Varnel Watson
Steve Maxwell only a non minister amature can make an immature comments like that as Philip Williams already pointed that Kingdom is not just stats but souls Jesus had not much church growth during his human life span Was he a failed pastor – ? YES according to steve max
All of the pastors that walk in the Spirit grow their churches is a FALSE statement We know false churches to grow and Spirit churches to remain small, limited and often persecuted and oppressed But enough about Western mentality
Steve Maxwell
Troy Day, then why did God seem interested in numbers?
David Asbury
This is very good
Daniel J Hesse
Agreed, traditional Pentecostal paradigm. Kingdom of God focus precludes this practice.
Varnel Watson

Philip Williams
Core of problem is when ministry is seen as a vocation, a career. Serving God should be our vocation. Our identity ought not to be as ministers of our sect but as members of the one family of God. Participation of women will reveal how much we are God’s family. Professionalism is destructive of God’s family as Mounce mentions in Ezekiel 34.
