“LORD, what are human beings that YOU CARE FOR THEM, mere mortals that YOU THINK OF THEM?” (Psa. 144:3)
[God gave humans royal “glory and honor” and power to rule. Genesis 1:26-28, says THAT HUMANS WILL RULE OVER THE REST OF CREATION BECAUSE GOD CREATED HUMAN BEINGS, MAKING THEM TO BE LIKE HIMSELF!] “So God created mankind IN HIS OWN IMAGE, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. RULE OVER…EVERY LIVING CREATURE that moves on the ground.” (Gen. 1:27-28) [God is holy, just, wise, good, and perfect; the soul that he created was intended to be AS HE WAS: there could be nothing impure, unjust, ignorant, evil, low, base, mean, or vile in man’s soul. Man was created after the image of God; and that image, according to Paul, consisted in righteousness, true holiness, and knowledge.] “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and TO PUT ON THE NEW SELF, created to be LIKE GOD in true righteousness and holiness.” (Eph. 4:22-24) [it is the desire of our Abba Father for us to be just like him!] “…you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being RENEWED IN KNOWLEDGE IN THE IMAGE OF ITS CREATOR.” (Col. 3:9-10) [So; this is what we need to do:] “…put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery [dishonesty, wickedness], not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, CLOTHE YOURSELVES WITH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Rom.13:12-14) [Paul says here that WE SHOULD PUT ON THE NEW MAN, which after God is created in RIGHTEOUSNESS AND TRUE HOLINESS, in the holiness of truth. Both of these certainly refer to the same thing, and the one explains the other. From the apostle we learn what Moses meant by THE IMAGE OF GOD; it was RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THE TRUTH OF HOLINESS.]
