EYES AND EARS – Ray E Horton
Our human eyes and ears, and how our minds interpret and understand what they receive, can be quite deceptive or ill informed. That is why God’s Word tells us to not judge by appearances, but by the heart. But who knows the heart better than God?
He knows our hearts
There may not be a better prayer than “Lord, open my spiritual eyes and ears to see and hear as you see and hear.” Let Jesus be our example. We can grow in this if we are Born Again and therefore have the Holy Spirit within:
“Then Jesus said to them,’Truly, truly I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do. For whatever He does, likewise the Son does’… ‘I can do nothing of Myself. As I hear, I judge. My judgment is just, because I seek not My own will, but the will of the Father who sent Me’” (John 5:19 & 30).
Here’s the secret
Jesus tells us a secret here, we can see and hear spiritually, from His perspective, judging justly or understanding correctly, when we are not seeking our own will, but that of the Father.
