“Give me the offerings from your grain, your wine, and your olive oil when they are due. “Give me your first-born sons. (Exodus 22:29) Not even human beings who have been unconditionally dedicated may be bought back; they must be put to death. (Leviticus 27:29)

In the case of Abraham, God was simply testing his trust & obedience by asking him to sacrifice his own son, but eventually, God supplied a lamb instead.of allowing Abraham to kill his son, period !
