I wouldnt want to present peoples opinions on the matter but from my own personal encounters with the demonic over the past ten years, the question to this answer is a definite Yes…not only a Christian but a born again one can be demonized.

I have read and re read the teachings on deliverance and spiritual warfare and found that most of the stuff and the contributors(except Uger..have not read him) is not new.
I have out that the same questions have been asked over and over and it seems the question of a demonized Christian is offensive to some people.
I come from a Muslim background and had also been in insight meditation (yoga)for many years before the LordJesus delivered me from these two strongholds…so I have a first hand experience of deliverance …and to those whom over the years I have ministered to .inside the church.
The most puzzling question is how can an unclean spirit co exist with the Holy Spirit in the same vessel? i.e the human body.
I think a little study on the constitution of man can give light to this puzzle..
The Bible has it that man or a human being is a triune being..ie man is a spirit who lives in a body but has a soul.
It is my belief that the Holy Spirit indwells the believers spirit rather than the soul or body….and in this manner I can say the Holy Spirit has his own abode and since He is a Person and a holy person, He could not live side by side with un unclean spirit or demon..
But imagine that the spirit of a man is a chamber and in that chamberlives the Spirit of God who has full exclusive ownership of the upper room but that when He purchased the house ie the man who is now his temple there were some tenants in the lower room which was unclean and which needs Him to sanctify it(remember the sanctifying work of Spirit?).Where is it done but in the lower room ie the soul where mind, will and emotions indwell and where unwanted tenants(demons) were original tenants who need to be given notice to quit the room because a new owner (Holy Spirit) has arrived in the scene…
Thru sanctification and deliverance the demons have to vacate the lower room thru the outer room ie is the body .
Only then will the complex spiritual battle between spirit and body cease and now the Spirit will have total control of the whole house ie upper room…lower room and outer room ie the three parts of a man spirit, soul and body.
Does this brief illustration shed light on the co existence of the Holy Spirit and unclean spirits(demons) in the same vessel that is the human body?
Jesus said when un unclean spirit leaves a human body it says….” i will return to my HOUSE..”
Man is a house of God (a temple of God at creation….He was a temple of God in Eden but after the fall, the temple is vacated by the Spirit at Adams disobedience and here now comes new tenants, unclean spirits..demons..until the original owner returns now at salvation to occupy His original place .the upper room.

I have done it and i have witnessed it being done.
However they need to know some basic things on what to do and how to…
Nevertheless a lot of Christians most of the times do self deliverance unawares….in prayer…on their own.
Another example of self deliverance is mass deliverance whereby people a led in a specific prayer then are ushered into prayer points(DK Olukoya …is an example of this link).

Yes a demonized person can deliver themselves.
However, it is advisable to have people around you when you do it in case of a demonic manifestation you might not be able to handle..

I have to search for one but when we say ” self deliverance” we dont mean deliverance by self effort rather it is the intervention of the Holy Spirit on the belivers authority of the name of Jesus on ones situation …

I’ve read several testimonies where ppl travel even from another countries – they are placed on a waiting list, stay in a hotel operated by his family / cousins and so on until they get to have a personal deliverance time with him. Isara Mo I work with the African Pastors Network and have been to Nigeria 3 times asked to teach on sound doctrine and practice. TB Joshua teaching and ministry are regarded as a false prophet using occult practices and teaching by the two main interdenominational ministries of Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, led by Papa Ayo (whom I have met and talked with), among many others. Whether or not his healings and prophecies are fake (and there is evidence that at least some are faked), even the real healings and prophecies come from occult and psychic sources, not from God. I do believe that some of these are not faked, but are real counterfeits, demonstrating the counter kingdom power of Satan, mixing Christianity with African witchcraft and shamanism.

The Holy Spirit dwells within the innermost being, the human spirit of the believer (Ezek. 36:26-27). And yes, a believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16). And yes, we can pray a hedge of protection around us and put on the full armor of God to protect us. However. none of this means that demons cannot penetrate, infest, enter a believers mind or body. Demons cannot enter the innermost sanctuary of the temple of the Holy Spirit, the spirit where the Holy Spirit dwells, the Holy of Holies. But the outer temple–the Outer Court (body) and the Holy Place (soul–mind, will, emotions) can be entered and defiled by demons. If we fail to put on the armor of God or have a chink in the armor, the flaming arrows of the Evil One can penetrate and enter into the body or mind of a believer. There is a false syllogism: A. The Holy Spirit dwells in a believer B. The Holy Spirit cannot dwell with demons. C. Therefore, demons cannot dwell in a believer. A is true, but B is not. There is no Scripture that says that the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in the same body/temple with demons. Scripture says it should not (1 Cor 6:19-20), but not that it cannot. Look at the same syllogism with one word changed: A. The Holy Spirit dwells in a believer B. The Holy Spirit cannot dwell with sin. C. Therefore, sin cannot dwell in a believer. A believer cannot sin. Again there is no Scripture that says that. In fact, Paul clearly says that both sin and evil dwell in him (Romans 7:14-20). Further, Paul says that believers can be bewitched (Gal 3:1), entangled in bondage and enslaved (Gal. 5:1), have sorcery or witchcraft dwelling in their flesh (Gal 5:19-20). The temple of the Holy Spirit can be entered into, defiled, desecrated (1 Cor 6:16-20) (but not the Holiest Place–the spirit where the Spirit dwells). The believer’s mind can be infested with and deceived by the the Enemy’s ways of thinking (Rom 12:1-2), which is why we have to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, renew our minds, because we are not automatically protected with a hedge around our mind. We have to put on the helmet of salvation. We have to cast down those imaginations that have infested our minds and bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:3-5). We have to consciously give the devil no dwelling place (Eph. 4:27), (Greek topos–topography–geographical dwelling place within us). Many more Scriptures, but enough for the moment.

But if someone puts their faith in Christ but later sins by worshipping idols, doing seances, or whatever else has he got a guarantee against bening demonized?
If someone is demonized do we say he was never truly saved? Insist he be rebaptized, etc?

Troy Day I wouldn’t consider backsliding as being “one accidental sin”. Many professing believers choose to sin knowingly. They are going to face an angry God not simply lose some reward.

It is easier to understand these things(the discussions we have here) when one gets involved in the ministry of deliverance.
Philosophical and theological arguments and reasonings won’t resolve the different opinions…neither can they be of much help to those in dire need if deliverance.
A man might have read all the books on swimming and can even be a good teacher and trainer on.the sport .but as long as he cannot demonstrate what he is teaching it at the swimming pool he is not fit to be a swimming trainer.
Equally, someone might be very versatile in what the Bible says and what the Bible doesn’t say, but as long as he cannot demonstrate the power of the WORD he is just like the swimming trainer who knows all about swimming but cannot himself swim.
Another problem I see in these discussions is that we discuss the subject in respect of a man in an already state of fall NOW BORN AGAIN(SAVED)but i believe if we can go back to Eden and try to understand the state of being of man before the fall we may be able to understand the controversies that arise .
The Bible says Adam lived for 930 years then died.
My question is this : did Adam DIE before before he was booted out of Eden or after being banished from the garden.
Which part of Adam “died” when he ate of the fruit and which part of Adam enabled him to live the 930 years then ” died”
The part that ” died” is the part which is kind of rekindled at new birth and that is the above of the Spirit…(my hypothesis…)

Most sins of believers comes from the flesh now demonization as the devil chasers want people to believe.
It’s a struggle between flesh and Spirit.

Does a convert from Islam or Hinduism or Buddhism become a “Christian” or a child of God…?
It is fallacious to leave one religion and accept another, to deny one lie and accept another.
But it is quiet reasonable to leave one religion and accept TRUTH.
Christianity like Islam and Judaism are listed amongst worlds largest RELIGIONS..
Jesus didn’t bring a new religion or amended an old one(Judaism) to fit our philosophies or doctrines.
We all know that there are billions of unsaved “Christians” out there and as Troy mentions here we have Southern “Baptists” who are Christian Masons is it Masonic Christians..?
We all know that there are thousands of “Christian” sects and denominations with strange doctrines even denying the DEITY OF CHRIST..
Can we please centre the arguments of demonology within the contexts of Pentecostal theology and not all Christians as a whole…which can make sense.

Isara Mo all Christians are saved until proven backsliden or manifest in the middle of service while preaching – I’ve had it happen Then you theoretical theology goes down the drain and you have to figure out what to do on the sport OR your service will be overtaken by demons.
