| PentecostalTheology.comLET THE HOLY SPIRIT USE YOU IN PRAYER – Ray E Horton
Praying in the Spirit is perfect prayer since the Holy Spirit praying through us knows all things.
“Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, for we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26).
But there is another important way the Holy Spirit wants to use us to impact the world in prayer as we listen for His still small voice and respond in faith
Be quiet and listen up – The Lord wants to use you for important prayer
As we draw close to the Lord, be listening in faith. He wants to speak to you. All of us are called to be intercessors. Holy Spirit will tell us how to pray.
This morning, around 7 AM, as I was shaving, I heard in my heart, “Hamot,” the name of one of our local hospitals. I didn’t write it off as imagination. I said, “Yes, Lord, I pray for those at Hamot, for life and healing.” I then heard, “Stop now,” and I had the sense that I should pray that “Whatever procedure the Doctors are planning at this moment, they will stop before a mistake is made, in Jesus name.” Now, I don’t know for a fact that anything happened, but I’ve learned to respond to little promptings in faith. I probably will never know the results of my prayer, but that’s okay.
Imagine if we all gradually become more open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. It is coming, as we steadily pull out of complacency and worldly thought patterns and consecrate our lives more and more to His service.
So be quiet and listen up – the Lord wants to speak to your heart.
You may be the only person available
God will use whoever is available. He will use you. Little you can save lives, even turn the tide of world events
If you are open, maybe you are the only one hearing to pray for that person in a house fire halfway across the country, or that soldier in Afghanistan in imminent danger, or that national leader about to make a big decision, or that persecuted convert from Islam about to be martyred, or that nation in extreme poverty.
God will use whoever is available. He will use you. Little you can save lives, even turn the tide of world events, if you will be available to respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in prayer.
