Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! And it was so, that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and TOOK HIM, AND KISSED HIM. – 2 Samuel 15:4, 5
Absalom kissed them. With a kiss he stole their hearts and wrecked a nation. Scripture is clear in its warnings. The plainness and sobriety of Gods word. The foreknowledge and foresight of the living God. The bitterness and raw ambition of the sons of men. The rivalry of brothers. ..the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
Absalom so fair and grand was but a cog in the wheel. God uses whom he will. Its men that fall for vanity and showmanship. the wicked are happy to give it to them. For a price. A compromise of faith, a short cut on integrity. A little self deception, surrender to hype and a new face.
How many years did David wait for the word of the Lord. How many years did Ahab and Jezebel wait for the word of the Lord. But one day the judgment did come. One day the dogs did lick their blood as the prophet said. One day what David did in darkness with the wife of Uriah would be done to him in the broad day light.
Men and their folly resist and mock the work of God. His work is thorough and altogether righteousness. For He is righteous He loves righteous deeds. His continence beholds the upright.
Beware the kisses my brother. beware the charmers and the empty promises. beware when men take justice into their own hands. ..for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. And he does. In his time. God is just and good. behind the veil God is working. God keeps watch upon his own.
God restore and revive your work in holiness. grant patience and discernment. Wisdom too and temperance. Deliver us from every evil and every lie. Give us holy desires and scripture. Maranatha. Come Lord Jesus
