Jesus taught a “gathering away” which later became “the Blessed Hope” in Pentecostal Theology. Some scripture references include but are not limited to: John 14:3 and Matthew 24:40-41.
It hinges on the interpretation of the GK παραλήμψομαι. In John the verb is interpreted “to receive”. In Matthew it is interpreted “to take”.
The lexicon’s are in agreement with the major “to take”. This includes Strong’s, NAS Exhaustive Concordance, Thayers Gk. Lexicon (which specifically states “to take to oneself), and the Englishman’s NT Concordance of παραλήμψομαι.
New Testament examples from Englishman’s include: Matt 2:14, 20, 21; 4:4,8; 12:45; 17:1; 18:16; 20:17; 24:40-41; 27:27 and Luke 9:10.
The Emergent Church mind-set has caused the Post-Modern church to reject this objective truth and has promoted the modern thought. This mindset does not believe any objective truth can be learned from Scripture.
It has caused great groups of professing Christians to be blinded from any literal interpretation of Scripture and put them in jeopardy of being “left behind” simply because they are not watching and waiting.
This is what I believe and teach to gatherings of Christ Followers.

Those being taken in Matthew 24:41 are being taken at the Day of the Lord.
The church will taken away at the day of Christ. Which is before the day of the Lord.
You don’t want to be taken during the Day of the Lord. Those taken at that moment will be taken and thrown into the wine press of Gods wrath. This isn’t describing the rapture of the church. This is describing the wrath and destruction.
Matthew 24:38-41 (KJV) 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two [women shall be] grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
The flood takes them away. So will the coming or the 2nd advent. Will hit them like a flood. It’s going to take one away to their death and leave one to remain.
John 19:16-16 (KJV) Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they (paralambanō)(παραλαμβάνω) Jesus, and led [him] away.
Matthew 24:42-42 (KJV) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Because if your not watching just like the people in Noah’s day wasnt watching. They got taken away.
Jesus comes as a thief to those who aren’t watching. The ones who aren’t watching get taken to where the eagles are gathered. The eagles are the great foul of the air.
Revelation 19:17-19 (KJV) 17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all [men, both] free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

I personally appreciate the use of Thayers Gk. Lexicon (which specifically states “to take to oneself), and the Englishman’s NT on the proper use of παραλήμψομαι.
Englishman and several excellent sources were also suggested by Dr. John Mushenhouse in the group. I admit I am still stuck on the last pre-revision of NA28 meaning 10-12 yrs back and I kind of got stuck on new resources there because anything after BDAG is just not satisfactory enough IMHO
Now I do plan to take on the greek word interpret. by Brett Dobbs and others; I have found out to much misfortunate dissatisfaction on my part that our dear post-trib brothers mean well BUT simply do not know the language of the BIBLE and are misled by international mis-translations.
