FAITH COMES BY THE RHEMA WORD – Ray E Horton

It’s the Rhema Word of God that motivates us and changes us, once the Logos is believed and accepted.

The Rhema Word

We receive the Rhema Word through the anointing:

  1. The anointing of teaching, preaching, prophecy
  2. The anointing on listening, hearing, preparing the heart, openness, expectancy.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The Greek for “the Word” in this verse is “rhema.”

Faith comes as the Word becomes alive in my heart

The giving and the receiving are both needed. Yes, faith comes by hearing, but it’s by hearing the Rhema Word to me personally. Faith comes as the Word becomes alive in my heart.

The most anointed word will bounce off a hard heart, and our hearts are often hard when nursing hurts, feeling discouraged, dirtied by the world and focused on the flesh.

Anointing the Heart

So, the anointing of the heart to hear is of utmost importance – and that comes from experience: the experience of God’s love through intimacy in prayer, praise, worship, singing and praying in the Spirit, prophecy, serving, using the gifts of the Spirit, reaching out in love, meditating on God’s word, and the Rhema spoken to our hearts.

It is then that we are ready for new light, new revelation of truth, and the anointing of the Word preached and taught has full impact on our lives.
