After sharing at a church Wednesday evening prayer meeting, someone encouraged me that the message and prayer had come across with a strong anointing. I had been inspired by a prophetic word I had read earlier by sister Arleen Westerhof of the European Prophetic ‘Consultation/Council.
Camping Out at the Jordan
I shared that after 40 years in the wilderness from the time of the promised land first being seen, we had the breakthrough and arrived at the Jordan several years ago. The Lord had shown me that when we arrived at the Jordan River, unlike Joshua and the Israelites, we didn’t cross over but just camped out on the shores celebrating the breakthrough of arrival at the Jordan, the end of the wilderness time. We just enjoyed looking at the promised land, without crossing over and entering in.
Since then, the Lord has further elaborated:
What does the Jordan and the promised land represent for the current New Covenant church?
The Lord is showing me that the Jordan represents that which is blocking our destiny. It is apathy and division in the Body of Christ and its members. Are we happy campers now, enjoying the spiritual party and having our needs met, experiencing the joy of our salvation, yet, not obedient to our calling to take the land.

What is the promised land for us? Is it not through prayer, our spiritual authority and listening to and cooperating with the Holy Spirit, proactively awakening the church, influencing our culture, preaching in the highways and byways with signs following to bring in the harvest? In short, is it not ultimately fulfilling our call to the Great Commission?
Yes, that is what the Lord is showing me that our promised land is all about, being obedient to our purposes in God, and using the equipping that He has given us to arise as a church and bring in the harvest.
God says:
“I desire my people to be complacent no longer. You thought stopping your worldly partying was sufficient, but I say, now is the time for letting go of the spiritual partying as well and come together in love and prayer and unity. That is when My power for effective change will operate through you. Fill your churches on prayer nights. Encourage and participate in joint functions among local churches. That is how you will cross the Jordan.
“And when you arrive on the other side, I will be with you as you ‘Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons…’ (Matt. 10:6) You can do this, for where I call, I equip. Remember that: ‘Freely you have received, so freely give.’ Until you are stepping out and working these signs in my power, you have not arrived.
“Crossing the Jordan takes work, takes sacrifice, and there are giants in the land. Will you trust Me and be proactive and come together now to begin your departure. It is your assignment. It is what you are alive for. Don’t hold back, for I love you and need your cooperation to bring about the end of the age.”
Hook Up with the Humble Leaders that the Lord is Raising Up
I also sensed that the Israelites had a leader to lead them across. Joshua heard from the Lord for them. But, the Father said, “Jesus is your leader, and each of you who has the Holy Spirit can hear My voice for yourself.
“Also, I have raised up many under Jesus in this day with pure hearts focused on the call. They may not be known, but these humble servants are all around you to encourage you and draw out faith to get you started. Join with them as they seek me for strategies for each region.”
Who are these “humble leaders” all around us that the Lord has raised up? I believe there is a variety. Some may have been carrying the vision for years, and just now being released. Others may be comparatively new in the Lord, young and on fire. Among them may be your pastor or other church leader if he or she is not all about his or her ministry success, but about the success of the Lord’s vision.
The Lord has been saying “the time is now” for several years. But we have been so busy spiritually partying, we haven’t obeyed. God has already poured out His Spirit for this new awakening that will lead us into the promised land of destiny. Wait no longer!
