8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

I have never thought of Iraq or Turkey as being the place where Abraham journeyed. If this happened it puts Abraham 500 to 700 miles to the east and north of where I have mentally placed him. I wonder if any of you have any substantial information as to where he wandered?
Ricky Grimsley
I Would say probably.

Hebrews 11:8 You’ve got to start going before you know where you are going…
David Lewayne Porter
Yes,
Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born.
Isaac was 60 when Jacob was born, so Abraham would have been 160 at the time of Jacob’s birth.
Abraham died at 175.
So he had 15 years in which he could have spent time with Jacob.
Genesis 21:5
And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
Genesis 25:26
And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
Genesis 25:7
And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

Pretty sure Abraham knew Noah…
David Lewayne Porter
How does that relate to the original post?
Just curious.

They all sojourned! Abraham was 2 when Noah died. Abraham was the 10th generation since the flood. This was important for Isaac to be a son of promise and not in flesh. The author of Hebrews knew all that when writing v.9 They all sojourned! We all sojourn in the Son of Promise!
David Lewayne Porter
If I am not greatly mistaken the ones that sojourned together were Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob according to Hebrews 11:9.
Just a thought but
We are not sure if they stayed in the same region and spoke the same language as Noah since during the generations after the flood that the people and lands were divided as well as the languages.
Paul Hughes
NIV: “he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.”
