I have something in common with the house flies
I am trying to figure out why there were so many house flies in my apartment this morning. I swatted 25 and counting, and I don’t even leave my door open like many building residents. No open windows either.
I Love a Lot of Light
I just realized; I have something in common with the flies. I love a lot of light, and they are attracted to the light as well. I remember when the kids were young telling them to shut off the light when leaving the room. I no longer practice what I preached and leave most of the lights in the house on when I’m home. With the advent of LED bulbs, leaving lights on is no longer a significant factor on the electric bill.
A lot of light has quite an impact in helping me constantly experience the joy of the Lord and remembering His presence
I find having a lot of light has quite an impact in helping me constantly experience the joy of the Lord and remembering His presence. Not that darkness bothers me, but I just prefer lots of light.
That, I’m sure reflects things spiritually. Jesus is light of the world, and the light in our hearts, bring us the light of truth in His Word and in prayer.
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life‘” (John 8:12).
We Become a Light to the World
I hopefully will never shut the light of life off even for a moment. Even if the flies of the enemy try to bother me, I will just swat them with the truths of God’s Word, in Jesus name.
And, with His light of life in our lives, we become a light to the world as well: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matt. 5:14). That is true of each of us individually and as a part the church, the Body of Christ. We share His light to the world.
So, I will continue to swat the flies until they are all gone. I decided to try shutting all my lights off for a while and opening the door wide to see if they will be attracted out of the apartment and to the lights of the hallway.
But I hopefully will never shut the light of life off even for a moment. Even if the flies of the enemy try to bother me, I will just swat them with the truths of God’s Word, in Jesus name.
