They are elevating or drawing attention to SELF. We are supposed to die to self and to draw attention or elevate Christ.

Selfies are SELFcentered. They exalt the very thing we are supposed to crucify.

I am not interested in going on an anti-selfie campaign. People are creative. They are made after a creative God.

Better than taking photos of celebs: “..and Jesus passed through the press..”

John Kissinger [08/18/2015 9:49 AM]
So, if I’m reading this right, taking a selfie and posting it on social media is not a form of narcissism or self-obsession but a form of healthy self-acceptance and a desire to be accepted for who I am, what I look like, and where I am. There’s some truth in this possibility http://www.biblesociety.org.au/news/biblical-wisdom-say-selfie

Would Jesus take a selfie?

We work so hard to project the perfect image of ourselves but Jesus’s attention was always on God and those around HIM 1st first http://www.christiantoday.com/article/would.jesus.take.a.selfie/35164.htm

This and thwxassicuated study are both secular and do not account for evangelistic tendencies. In the linked study (see bottom of the study page for link) it features bith men and women (from Poland) but again dicuessed I negative traites. For instance, in finding that selfie-posting tended to Inc read amk g thise seeing themselves as leaders, this was linked with “more willing to manipulate”. THAT statement I’d more a reflection on the researchers mind set than the subjects (especially as no ratioake was offered as to why that might be so.)

Therefore I conclude that both studies were flawed at best. Of course our pre-conditions and need for inner being will be reflected in our on-line behaviour. But the taking of selfues us not the cause – only a possible symptom.

Ok having now preached to the choir let’s post a nice selfie…..

My point is: there are way much more serious issues that the Church needs to provide a Biblical or at least theological answer.

      Troy Day
I think brother selfies mean exactly that “selfish ”
You have to be selfish to take an own photo in the morning ,another one in the afternoon and a third and fourth before you retire to bed.
The sicker the patient the more medicines are prescription by the doctor..
Selfies are okay as long as they are not addictive .They are “Biblical” since the scripture tells us to love our neighbours as we love our selves.Never seen a person who doesn’t love themselves including GOD .
But when selfies become addictive they form a kind of self worship and self worship is idolatry and this is not Biblical..
So yes ,selfies can be Biblical and yet not Biblical (my view) depending on attached a person is to the ritual

What does the Bible say about them? Does it approve? Does it forbid? The Bible says nothing about selfies bit it does warn about pride, immodesty, and other sins that could possibly be part of the motivation for taking and posting slefies.

The first 50 years the church branded most of Hollywood’s productions as worldly and even evil and we were strongly warned to stay out of movie houses.
Then along came television and hollywood moved into our homes. Little by little we developed a taste for news and their views and then entertainment, including killing and sexual licenses until such a time that we are spending big money every month on cable TV that let’s in all kinds of options from the good and important to the base and the wicked. What has Hollywood done to us? For us? Against us?

13 Bible Verses about Guarding Yourself..

    Ecclesiastes 5:1
Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.

Where is Ralph Waldo Emerson when we need him?

There is a monumental conflict brewing between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. It will be a classic struggle that will be more legendary than that which occurred between Greece and Troy. If only Homer were alive today to record the deeds of the heroes who may be called to lay down their lives in this epic conflict.

Unfortunately, few people are actually paying attention to what may very well be a fight for the soul of the country. That needs to change.

There are far too many people who are AWOL in this battle. While our brave warriors are dying in the street, the rest of the population goes on carelessly with their lives, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage. They are completely unaware of the flood that is coming.

Too few of us are keeping watch and do not understand that the day of the Lord is at hand. The forces of Satan are amassing even now and are preparing for spiritual warfare against a small cadre of God’s warriors. Only a precious few have had the foresight to don the armor of God and take a stand against the devil’s schemes.
