And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.:
– Luke 19:5

Zacchaeus was a great guy after he met the Lord Jesus. He owned his wrong doing and he was happy to have Jesus come into his home. Jesus is the extraordinary story in the life of ordinary people.
People often want to be someone else. Even in the church people struggle with who they are. Its to bad really that there are so many masks in Gods house. they want to be David the giant killer or Caleb taking the mountain. Elijah calling down fire or even Jesus on the cross.
Why cant we just be the redeemed of the Lord. Washed in the blood of Christ and made new by his mighty power. With great joy and peace in believing.
Hey Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down. And he shimmied right down that tree. He didnt care what people think. He wasnt worried about his clothes. Or his job. He wanted to meet Jesus.
The rich man hurried down that tree. It seems so simple but the pride must come down the stubbornness and rebellion to God must come down. And he confessed his wrong doing. He confessed his lying and cheating. And he promised to clean it up and do right.
And what did Jesus say this day salvation has come to your house. That must have been really something to see. That Jesus is really something. peace.
