| PentecostalTheology.comAnd Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
– Genesis 32:24
Jacob was ambitious. Jacob knew what he wanted. Jacob took advantage of his own brother when he was hungry. Jacob lied to his father too. breaking the moral law of God. But God didnt judge him for it. It was many years but God did finally break him and deliver him.
Pride, stubbornness, and the works of the flesh must be broken. Doubting, murmuring and complaining must be broken too. We must be broken and tamed and tempered by grace. Changed and made new by faith that is in Jesus Christ. the Saviour. The wall must come down. The mask must come off.
It is good to wrestle with God. Every man has to go down to the river and get alone with God. We need God in this world. To overcome and succeed. We dont always know Gods plan. We need understanding and strength. Holiness too and deliverance. He wants us to win but its more important he win. He doesnt ask for much, maybe a bad attitude here, a heavy chain there, some crazy demon, or a relationship that needs some adjustments, give it up, let him have it, let him fix it. it will be better.
Jacobs life is a story for transformation. Spiritual vitality and truth. He walked different, he talked different and he lived different. The rascal became a prince. The man that tried to hide behind his children stepped up and stood up to give an account of his life as a man and father. men stand stronger and live better when theyre broken before God and yielded to do his will. Its God has to have his way our life. Not us. Peace.
