ACCEPT ONE ANOTHER TO THE GLORY OF GOD ~ Ray E Horton

Reading in the Book of Romans this morning. Most of us are used to all the doctrinal teaching in the first ten chapters of Romans, but there is much truth to apply in our lives in the rest of Romans as well.

Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. [This tolerance is a key way that we can love our neighbor]. For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written, ‘The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.’

For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” [Perseverance and encouragement give us hope, and what is a primary source? God, through the Scriptures!]

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. [There is great power and witness when we are in “one accord,” “according to Christ Jesus“]

Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God” (Romans 15:1-7). [Note that accepting one another is more than for our relationship with others, it is for “the glory of God.” Jesus’ acceptance of us is our example].

Those last few chapters of Romans so often get ignored, compared with the first 10 chapters with their vital doctrinal teaching.
