Bill Stockham | PentecostalTheology.com“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to LIVE A LIFE WORTHY OF THE CALLING you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Eph. 4:1-2) [Paul was now a prisoner at Rome; and he indicates “as a prisoner for the Lord”, he mentions this once again, to show that he was not ashamed of his bonds! (Eph. 3:1)] “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and FATHER OF ALL, who is OVER ALL and THROUGH ALL and IN ALL.” (Eph. 4:4-6) [As Christians are called to the same hope of eternal life. There is one Christ that we all hope in, and one heaven that we are all hoping for; and therefore we should be of one heart! Our Abba Father is the Father of all of us; by our special relation, as he is the Father of all men by creation: and he is above us all, by his essence, and he has dominion over all creatures and specially over his church, and through us all, by his providence upholding and governing us: and in us all, in all believers, in whom he dwells as in his holy temple, by his Spirit and special grace.] “So Christ himself gave the APOSTLES, the PROPHETS, the EVANGELISTS, the PASTORS and TEACHERS, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge [to know Him intimately] of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to THE WHOLE MEASURE OF THE FULLNESS OF CHRIST. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.” (Eph. 4:11-14) [We are going to attain to the “whole measure” of the “fullness” of Christ! How can that be? Well – NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!!!] “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, WE WILL GROW TO BECOME IN EVERY RESPECT THE MATURE BODY of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” (Eph. 4:14-15)
