| PentecostalTheology.comThe Kingdom Is Within You, but Where? – Ray E Horton
The Word of God says, “the Kingdom is within you.” But where? When I look into the mirror, I surely see no kingdom. When I look into the soulish realm of mind, will and emotions, I don’t see the kingdom there, considering wrong thoughts and decisions that are sometimes there. So where is the Kingdom within me?
When I look into the mirror of God’s Word I see 1 Thess. 5:23, Heb. 4:12, and other verses that show me I am actually a tripartite being, three parts, and that I have a spirit which is distinct from my soul. We are made in God’s image and likeness, and God is Spirit, thus my spirit man is my true identity, who I am, and that’s where the Kingdom resides within me.
God is Spirit, thus my spirit man is my true identity, who I am
It is my spirit that is instantly saved when I am born again, a whole new creation, and where I have been made to be “the righteousness of God in Christ” (2 Cor. 5:21). My spirit is already perfected, as opposed to my soul, where sanctification is a life-long process.
Now, the part of my inner man that I am most aware of is my soul, made up primarily of my mind, will and emotions. My spirit I am only aware of through through God’s Word and Holy Spirit revelation. It is where I draw in faith to hear God, that still small voice within, the inner witness.
Our spirit man can be quite allusive except as we draw near to the Lord within, and many Christians are not even aware that they have a spirit. Yet, that is the real you, your very identity where connection is with our God.
We must look beyond the veil. As we look into the mirror of God’s Word and renew our minds to this true identity, our soulish realm grows gradually “from glory to glory” (2 Cor. 3:18).
