Trust and Spurn Not His Amazing Love – Ray E Horton
God’s love for us is so great and incomprehensible, and it is unconditional, no matter what we do, even though we don’t deserve it.
Not only did He create us, He created us in His image and likeness to be like Him, respecting us enough to give us free will, even knowing full well that we would use it to turn on Him.
He sacrificed His life, knowing in advance that many would reject Him
And He had a plan to restore us from the beginning of time. Amazingly, in His unfathomable love, He redeemed us at such a great sacrifice, the blood of Jesus, knowing that some would reject that redemption, and even that many of His recreated children would not choose to live in the fullness of that redemption but continue in the ways of the world.
Here is a familiar scripture rendered in the Message translation: “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again” (John 3:16-17).
The revelator John brings out the truth of that great love right up front: “All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God His Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen!” (Rev 1:5-6).
That unconditional love in His amazing sacrifice continues to draw us, and He cries out to our hearts: “Trust Me and let go of your ways, for in My ways you will experience abundant life in the here and now.“
Let us not spurn any of the fruit of His great sacrifice, of His shed blood, His mighty resurrection and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They are the fruit of His great love for us.
Let us live our lives knowing that we are forgiven, without condemnation:
- Coming into His presence for joy and strength,
- Receiving health and healing, Being prospered in all our ways,
- Overcoming sin and weakness through Him,
- Welcoming Him to live through us as lights to the world, ministers of reconciliation, ambassadors of His Kingdom.
No longer will we listen to the lies of the enemy but arise and awaken to the abundance of life in Jesus Christ.
