Sometimes Christians who think we are still sinners because we sometimes sin in the flesh, point to what Paul said in Rom. 7. But they need the fuller revelation of who Christ made us to be and the complete work of redemption in re-creating our human spirits. In Romans 7, Paul was showing us how, as a pre-Born-Again sinner, we were “wretched,” crying out: “Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Rom. 7:24).
But, thank the Lord that He went on with the answer in Vs. 25, “I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!” In Jesus we are delivered from the wretchedness of a sinner. He continues to explain the victory He won for us in Rom. 8:1-2: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”
We are now free to walk according to (and by the power of) the spirit, and the flesh no longer has to rule us. The old man is dead, and we renew our minds to the truth and overcome in the power of the Spirit. And, we can boast in no-one but Christ. It is only through His death and resurrection that we have been redeemed, surely by nothing we have done.
We did not deserve His grace, but He loved us so much, He made the sacrifice with joy: “who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross” (Heb. 12:2b). Therefore, when tempted or pulled away, we “look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Heb 12:2a). So rejoice; you are no longer wretched and lost, but are an overcomer in Christ.

Like salvation, which has a past, a present, and a future aspect,sanctification does as well.
1. Past Sanctification
Positional sanctification is past (and permanent): we were set apart in Christ at our conversion. The PAYMENT for sin has been paid for, once and for all as a result of belief only.
2. Present Sanctification
Progressive sanctification is present: we are daily being more and more conformed to His image in holiness. The POWER of sin is progressively being overcome for a BELIEVER, by the believer co-operating with Jesus through REPENTANCE – agreeing with God that believers have the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
3. Future Sanctification
Ultimate sanctification is future: one day we shall see Him as He is and we shall be like Him. There will be no more PRESENCE of sin in thought, word, or deed—and no “old man” to make us even want a shred of that old, shoddy condition.

Troy Day Sanctify to be set apart by God to himself. Many believe that sanctification is a process. Many believe it is a completed work in Christ. The Bible teaches both sides. We are set apart for the work of God and Yet asked by God to Sanctify ourselves. To purify ourselves. How we do we do that. We do it by both believing in the finished work of Gods Grace, accepting it and also by applying it to the root of our heart and deeds. Where the heart goes the hands follow. Lord Sanctify me by you’re spirit. And then let me use the Power of my faith in you help me to have works to overcome my flesh that sins against me.

To me sanctification is a progressive process. That comes a we co-operate with the Holy Spirit in the Renewing of our minds..Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

God seeks unbelievers first; and they are saved by grace only, through faith only, in Christ only. THEN as believers, God rewards those believers who seek God, including by repentance (agreeing with God that a believer has the righteousness of God in Christ).

The word repent is used twelve times in Revelation, but never in reference to obtaining eternal life. It always refers to turning from sins that have been ongoing or ingrained. The result of failing to repent is never eternal condemnation but always God’s temporal judgment on the sinful attitude or activity. This is true whether believers or unbelievers are in view.
