| PentecostalTheology.com“Are we as churches so caught up in the process that we are ignoring God’s goal?” This was what I posted last month to get readers thinking. Here is the answer, as I see it:
Throughout scripture, and particularly in Jesus’ ministry, God’s goal has been to have a body of believers on Earth to carry on His work and disciple the nations (the great commission), bringing in the harvest. His desire is that all would be saved – all who will let go and trust in Him. The process I am referring to that many churches are caught up in is what some call “churchianity,” that is, formulas and programs that become introspective, pretty much forgetting or ignoring the mission to equip and send out.
I posted this elsewhere, and someone responded:
“So in other words, we the church are so busy in starting programs and searching for new ideas to build the church etc, yet in actuality we are failing to do what Jesus commanded us to do. To simply Disciple one another, and to make more disciples for the Kingdom while there’s time. We are neglecting the Great commission. I would say many are,… I would say we all can fall into this trap and do. We feel we are doing what we should do by simply attending churches weekly. Yet we are falling short of the great commission if we are not reaching outside of the four walls to make more disciples.”
Yes, exactly!
“Why do we keep doing this?” he continued.
“What do we need to do to change our normal process and get back to the original plan and goal established by our Jesus?
A New Charismatic Renewal is on the way
The Lord, as He once more pours out His Spirit, will work on the church first. Where there is no repentance, exposure of true motives and lifestyles of many is likely. We are seeing that happening. Some will repent and be restored. A new charismatic renewal throughout the many denominations, including Pentecostal, will raise up new leadership, young and old, who are sold out to God. Even many cessationist churches, that deny the gifts of the Spirit for today, will wake up and receive the Holy Spirit.
We will see what has begun accelerate with a remnant, not small but vast remnant of churches starting to do God’s will to make disciples and bring in the lost, with believers of character empowered in the gifts making heavenly dents in the culture, preaching the Gospel with signs following beyond the four walls. The leadership and churches that want to continue the status quo will be left behind in this move of God, as I see it.
God is about unifying His church, all who are sold out to Jesus
This new move is clearly God’s will and plan. It is scriptural and is being prophesied over and over from all corners of the globe. God is about unifying His church. But, like with past revivals/awakenings, it won’t survive without prayer. We need to pray, preach and declare. I do believe, this time around, that such a multitude of on-fire Christians have indeed been praying, that we may very well see the final awakening come about as Matt. 24:14 comes to pass:
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Of course, this is a clear call for us to do our part.”
