Pentecostal Theology | PentecostalTheology.comIs it Biblical for Christians to Get Tattoos?
Marvin Elliott [05/14/2015 11:01 AM]
No it is a sin / why would any christain want a tattoo / when they know it is wrong?
Glynn Brown [05/14/2015 11:13 AM]
I think Christians have been legalistic for far too long. If it’s a sin to get a tattoo because of an obscure passage in the old testament, then so is eating pork or catfish. As far as a health risk, state laws require artists to be licensed and to use sterile needles. You can still give blood if you have a tattoo.

SO YOU DON’T EAT PORK OR CATFISH?
Byron Benefield [05/14/2015 11:21 AM]
Or shrimp, crab, oysters,
Marvin Elliott [05/14/2015 11:23 AM]
In the book of Acts when Peter was on top of a house roof resting / Peter saw a sheet coming down from the sky with animals / God told peter to eat / Peter said Know my LORD i DON’T EAT UNCLEAN MEAT. / The Lord told I have clean these. / when God clean something like food you can eat it / God didn’t clean tattoos / an you can’t eat tattoos / But clean food that God clean you can eat.
Glynn Brown [05/14/2015 11:25 AM]
You can eat anything you like. The gospel of mark(7:19) tells us that Jesus declared all foods clean.

We are also dead to the law. The law with it’s written code was nailed to the cross.
Byron Benefield [05/14/2015 11:28 AM]
To the gentile converts: Acts 15:28-29 KJV
For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
Hmmm, nope. No mention of tats

The Charges were taken away not the Law….. Col 2:13 You were once dead because of your failures and your uncircumcised corrupt nature. But God made you alive with Christ when he forgave all our failures. Col 2:14 He did this by erasing the charges that were brought against us by the written laws God had established. He took the charges away by nailing them to the cross.

But new charges can arise…….

I am not usually in favor of tattoos. Many of the Tattoos on our servicemen have blurred with time and are now a mess. Many contemporary tattoos may do the same. However, many of the Coptic Christians have the tattoos of a cross on their wrist as a sign of their devotion to Christ. I was struck favorably by their willingness to bear a visible testimony to their faith.

All things are lawful, saith Paul, but not all things are practicable.

I am not usually in favor of tattoos. Many of the Tattoos on our servicemen have blurred with time and are now a mess. I can personally attest to that At the same time many of the Coptic Christians have the tattoos of a cross on their wrist as a sign of their devotion to Christ. John Conger may attest to that if he’s done a tour or two #PaidVacationInAForeignLand

no service from me. high respect for those who did. on the issue of tats i don’t have a problem with them. if they were to keep us from ministry then we should abstain but most people see that is not a big deal.
John Ruffle
It’s not a “big deal” because most of the western Church is in bed and fornicating with the secular pop culture that is riven through with demonic activity. But thanks to the one who posted about Coptic Christians – I didn’t know this, but I have to respect that custom among them.
Troy Day – you taught me something today!
John Conger
wow, that’s typical pentecostal. just add to the bible whatever you feel should be sin
John Ruffle
Meaning?
John Conger
meaning you just condemned people for something that God didn’t condemn. why would having a tattoo make you someone who is fornicating with the world? other than your own personal revelation from God of course. ….
Varnel Watson
David Maris mentioned it first here actually Thank you!

Does anyone feel that the reference of not marking your body was in relation to the “for the dead” as was the the cutting of your your flesh? As in we arent supposed to mark ourselves for the dead in some kind of ritual?
John Conger
yep. i don’t see much debate there
