President Trump’s moral weakness became (even more) glaringly evident this week in his response to the so-called ‘Alt Right’ rally in Charlottesville featuring the Klu Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis and White Nationalists that resulted in the death of one woman named Heather Heyer and injured many others.  Trump’s ‘both sides’ equivocation gave encouragement to racists groups who applauded his response, and caused deep pain in most Americans.

Yet President Trump’s failure has provoked serious responses from some unexpected quarters.

The Manufacturing Council and The Strategy Policy Forum were both seeing mass defections by CEOs seeking to distance themselves from the President before Trump decided to disband the councils instead of facing more humiliation.  The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities followed suit writing a harsh letter of resignation with paragraphs formatted in such a way as to spell R E S I S T.

There is, however, one advisory group that remains largely intact and resistant to any calls to moral accountability: the President’s Evangelical Advisory Board, whose members are listed below. As of the writing of this piece, only one of this board has separated himself from the hurtful and racist apologetics coming from the White House.

A. R. Bernard, who is Founder, Senior Pastor and CEO of Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, NY issued a statement on social media in which he cited a “deepening conflict in values between myself and the Administration.”

Aside from this one example of courage from an African American member, the Evangelical Advisory Board has been either silent or overtly supportive of the President’s response to the open displays of racism and anti-Semitism on display in Charlottesville.   Indeed, Jerry Falwell Jr. took this opportunity to praise the president in a tweet for his “bold truthful stmt about tragedy.”

It seems incredible to those of us who dare to think that people who profess to follow a dark skinned Palestinian Jew would be hesitant to call out President Trump for his clearly disastrous and harmful rhetoric.  Yet, thus far they are sticking with him.

One person who isn’t surprised is Dr. Robert Jones, CEO of  the polling and research firm PRRI and whose book The End of White Christian America is crucial reading for understanding the reaction of White Evangelicals to this President.  Jones told Voices:

“With regard to Trump’s evangelical advisory committee, the views he espoused this week are consistent with views he expressed in the campaign. So the evangelicals on his advisory committee knew this was the president they were agreeing to serve. And like most things in the Trump orbit, the committee is mostly setup to be a Trump fan club rather than a committee that broadly represents the major entities in the evangelical world.

Also note: Given white evangelicals’ own checkered past supporting segregation and remaining silent about white supremacy groups (something I covered in my book), there may in fact be widespread agreement with the remarks.  For example, we conducted some recent analysis of perceptions of the Confederate flag, and found that 72% of white evangelicals say that they see the Confederate flag more as a symbol of southern pride than as a symbol of racism.

So, while many Americans would like for the Evangelical Advisory Board to either help Trump see the error of his ways or leave the Board, it seems unlikely that at least the white members have any inclination or willpower to do so.

As we approach the ten month mark of the 2016 election, it is worth remembering that the majority of White Christian Americans voted for Trump with more than 8 in 10 white Evangelical Protestants, and a strong majority of white Roman Catholics and Mainline Protestants.

In a letter called Dear White Christians written on the eve of the inauguration, a group of White Christians called out their fellow White Christians for voting for Donald Trump writing:

Those votes for Trump have confirmed for many of our black, brown, and Asian Christian neighbors that white Christians are willing to support someone who perpetuates white supremacy; who believes that men have the right to insult and abuse women; who routinely bullies and insults his critics; who glorifies wealth and success. All in favor of our own personal interests. Which means that now, support for Donald Trump has made Christianity seem insincere and self-centered rather than the just and generous way of Jesus Christ attested to in Scripture.

Today we see another crisis moment like the election when the very legitimacy of American Christian leaders, and especially Evangelical leaders, is in question.  While America hopes that they will provide a moral compass for this out of control, immoral presidency, we fear that they will fail, and in doing so fail the very Lord and faith they profess.

I do not agree with white supremacist not do I agree with the Black Lives movement that cause troubles also.
I do not agree with what either of them believe, though I do believe that both should be given the right to speak and the opposing parties be quiet at the time and show respect for each other.

She attacked an outreach program to teach children about God, called the Good News Club. Stewart does not believe Jesus is good news.
In 2009, a ‘Good News Club’ came to the public elementary school where Katherine Stewart sent her children. The Club, which is sponsored by the Child Evangelism Fellowship, bills itself as an after-school program of “Bible study.” But Stewart soon discovered that the Club’s real mission is to convert young children to a fundamentalist form of the Christian faith by giving them the false but unavoidable impression that their school favors their religion. As she dug deeper, Stewart realized that the Good News Club is just one part of a much larger story that should be of concern to everyone who cares about public education, our civil liberties, and the future of our country as a modern secular democracy.

The only value of being aware of what they say is to know what is being promoted by the far Left and what we are up against.
Nothing they say surprises me. Yes, it is outrageous, but they simply reflect the Progressive movement in all of its hatred of God and Christian values. They are the party of murder through abortion and endless war. They would restrict free speech in a heartbeat if they could. They would restrict religious freedom if they could. So Katherine Stewart, in her NYT hit piece on Trump and Christians reaches back to an 1871 sermon from Robert Lewis Dabney, in which he is asserting his view that the biblical record of creation supercedes the emerging science of geology and Darwinism. That was a protracted debate at that time with many solid theologians and pastors wrestling with the emerging conclusions and theories about the earth and of course evolution.
Are we to conclude that the thinking among Christians has not progressed or become engaged with science since then? Stewart wants to equate Dabney’s concerns with modern concerns about the very political movement of environmental radicalism. The actual science of climate change is deeply and internally conflicted. But the political agenda is all about taxing Americans and giving our money to the UN so they can push their agenda. Trump was right to pull out of Paris Accords. We can improve our carbon footprint without the UN.

And Christians today are very much engaged in wide ranging debate over geology, age of earth science, evolution, cosmology etc. Christians today love science. We love all the tech, medicine and other benefits we get from it everyday. Do we have to agree with all he metaphysical and philosophical conclusions secularist scientists hold in order to support science itself? No! Is there an atheistic, anti-Christian bias in much of science writing today? Yes!
But according to Stewart if we don’t accept the philosophical and political conclusions we are in “denial of science and critical thinking”
No, we just see clearly the difference between actual science and politics.

Then Stewart, having established her point that Christians generally are anti-science, deniers, irrational, unable to think critically, etc, next targets pastors and leaders who may be to some degree in the larger orbit of people supporting Trump. These pastors dared to take a stand of faith and valued gathering for worship over the fear of sickness. That is a controversial decision and is open to criticism from other Christians. She wants to make it a public health issue that their stand could and did contribute to Trump’s failure (in her mind) to take Coronavirus seriously. These are dangerous Christians because they are religious nationalists. This reminds me of Chris Hedges’ attacks years ago against Christians as nationalists and fascists because some dared to suggest that Christians should influence the general values of our culture. Oh my! The horrors of a culture with Christian values!!!!
    D. James Kennedy was a favorite target of Hedges back then.

Not satisfied attacking Christians in general and prominent pastors she then has to attack Christian believers within the Trump administration. How dare they want to bring Christian values such as pro-life into government decisions and policy. We are SECULARISTS don’t you know. SEPARATE CHRISTIANS FROM GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

She wants to connect all these dots into some vast cabal of Christians who influence Trump everyday and will destroy her beloved secularist vision. Her arguments are facile and based on her generally negative characterization of Trump’s person, character and decision making.

The truth is that Trump is taking the virus seriously. He is listening to the medical and science experts. He is making good decisions to mitigate and deal with this threat. Not every hiccup along the way is Trump’s fault. When he stopped flights from China the Dems called him xenophobic and racist. Do they want to let thousands of Chinese come in now? No. Trump acted correctly in shutting down flights, closing our borders, recommending social distancing, pushed for rapid medical development of treatments and vaccines, pushed for industry to make more supplies, pushed for economic relief, etc. Now he wants to find a way to not keep the country shut down for months. That is also necessary. But the endless criticism of every word and deed from Trump no matter how correct or good it is will not cease.

We need to be praying for him every day.

If you have a blog site etc, let me know!

Joseph was appointed to a high position in Pharoah’s Govt. Daniel held a high position in the Babylon Govt. Think about that.

Joseph was called upon only when the ppl were hungry and Pharaoh was afraid to be left with no slaves

Proverbs 26:21 KJV — As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

You don’t want to know. I think it’s a shame that supposed ministers of the gospel endorse and promote this foul mouthed, lying, slandering president. Is he a better president for America than Hillary? My dog would be better than Hillary. But to prop him up as some kind of model and crusader of Christianity is simply demonic. It’s anti christ. And those “pastors” like Paula White and Robert Jeffries will pay a price for their allegiance to this president rather than to God.

I do pray for him and I hope he and his family of reprobates get saved before Jesus comes to set up a perfect government.

      How’s that? ?

    Presidential debate
Five Republicans have qualified for the third 2024 presidential debate set for Wednesday in Miami. They are former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. Missing from the debate stage will be North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who both failed to meet the criteria. Former Vice President Mike Pence, who qualified for the first two debates, dropped out of the Republican primary last month. Donald Trump, the front-runner, is skipping the debate as he did the two previous ones. He is slated to host a rally in South Florida as counterprogramming instead. https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/07/us/5-things-to-know-for-nov-7-trump-trial-israel-presidential-debate-actors-strike-ukraine/index.html
