What is Pentecostal Theology? Now that there are millions of pentecostals worldwide and who serve the Lord under many different political systems as well as under several economic systems; it seems to me that pentecostal theology is as big as the world itself and as wide as the thousands of issues that mankind must face as he tries to build the kingdom of God on earth. We might ask why are so many pentecostals against universal health care, when Jesus healed all those that were sick. Why haven’t we found a way to bring healing to a larger number of people? When I worked in the Oral Roberts healing meetings there was no price put on healing nor a prerequisite.
The next time you are in a group of pentecostals; listen and see if you hear any vision for the local church or the local community or if there is a concept of the common good which seemed to be expressed often by our Lord. See if anyone has building blocks to build or notice if there are only wrecking bars in their hands?

Are we comparing universal health care to Devine Healing as people approach a Living and Loving God, Saviour, and Lord?

Only in the sense that Jesus seemed to include everyone. I would be reluctant to send everyone into the modern health care system because so many come away worst and in debt. My concern here is that there has been no in depth discussion by pentecostals on how to take care of the millions of sick folk in our generation nor have we talked about the hundreds of thousands of prisoners in the U S or the millions worldwide that need a different kind of justice.

When a hospital is larger than a church I (personally) don’t like it.

I am not saying it is not used by God or (A) place for healing.
I just don’t (personally) believe it is God’s Original intent.
I am working on a topic (fleshing it out) on surgery used to remove illnesses verses the healing brought about by the prayer of faith.

Cant we see hospitals as God’s mercy….keeping people alive till they are reached by the gospel? Im sure none of us Pentecostals would go to the hospital if faced with death? Its just science people. Yes they make mistakes and kill people and rob people of their cash…. Sounds like a religion to me. Some doctors doing good and some just treating the symptoms to make money.

I have Chaplin friends, and they are doing a great work. I have friends, family, and church members in the medical field, God uses them and God bless them.
What did those that “”suffered”” my things at the hands of Physicians finally do?

I go for God’s original intent first, not second as some.
And I am ALLOWED that, just as they are allowed their path.

So do you pray for God to heal your eyes so you wont have to wear glasses our optometrists ok?

I have, and I do.
My eyes are not a finished work as of yet, and doctors will not be the one to give the final healing, God will be.
My brother (if you can believe it), without healed eyes seeing 20/600 I drove for 18 months, through 4 states without my glasses or contacts, and never had and issue.
I would go through license check points and they could not tell I did not have 20/20. They also never asked – glory be to God.
People would ride with me just to see things happen. I could not see the traffic or cars I would (feel them) coming. I would pull up to blind intersections, the passengers would tell me it was clear. I would tell them no there was a (I would name the model make, and color of vehicle as well as which way it was approaching) and wait a few seconds. They would be amazed. My father-in-law got so used to it he would let me drive his fully restored classic 72 El Camino when he would not let anyone else drive it.
So my brother, are you questioning Paul’s trust in God,
Galatians 4:14-16
And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
I will not even bring up the thorn in the flesh that he had which may or may not have been the eye issue.
By the way, here is a question for you
With God healing Paul’s eyes in Acts 9:18
And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
Why was he having an issue with the same exact organs now?

David, your last question is very germane to the larger question in this discussion. Another question is; how can we bring about a higher level of wellness in the body of Christ? Here and there within christendom there are churches that have seminars to teach christians how to stay healthy. Although there are exceptions like your eyes and or Paul’s that must come under a different remedy.

Now respectfully,
In my estimation, IF we are giving exceptions and saying we must come under a different remedy, then we are still missing it and do not have the complete and total mind of God for this.
Remember some healings of Jesus were limited by
lack of faith,
little faith,
had to be removed from the city,
limited by doubt and unbelief,
some as they went,
and one in particular was touched by Jesus`s hand twice before he saw men as men and not trees.

Pentecostal theology is the interpretation of faith and practice that emphasizes the continuing ministry of the Spirit through the body of Christ, to the world. Healing is one aspect of the ministry of the Spirit which demonstrates the real time compassion of the Lord for those who are suffering. Our interest in healing is often compassion less and therefore the Spirit does not honor it. We also make a mistake when we attempt to “specialize” in healing instead of preaching the gospel

in the 70’s I heard the SO tell the ministers in a meeting that the health insurance provider was considering covering TN ministers because their health care provisions exceeded the premiums paid by the ministers. They said for a Pentecostal Church believing in healing they sure needed health care provision!!!

Some theologians and commentators say that (anointing them with oil) is not only praying as the church does but adding medicine as the Good Samaritan did.
My point was in which order do we do that, medicine then God, or God then medicine.
God should be our director of our actions not an after-thought.
