tell us now Michael Ellis Carter Jr.

    • Troy Day I’m free to preach on it all lol. In fact if you are going to preach relevantly to this generation I think we must preach each of these issues regularly. It may also be the difference between being called to a church and starting one.

  • The fact that one would feel limited to preach the Word period concerns me. We are called to preach and teach ALL OF HIS WORD. These issues can’t be avoided, matter of fact if they are then the men doing so are no different than the false prophets of Israel of old. They proclaimed blessings over them when God gave them no such a word.

Yes we have a new covenant and I’m so Thankful for it! Yet that covenant doesn’t include Luke warm lifestyles or accepting sin and refusing to repent of it. He’s called us to be Holy, separated to Him daily.

Yet it’s equally wrong to insult sinners who need Jesus, that’s not love either. Tell them the truth, yet let them know theirs freedom from sin.

I wouldn’ty preach specifically on any of those as topics. But, going verse by bverse through the entire Bible, every one of them will turn up in proper contexts. I wouldn’t shrink from them then.

topical has it’s place, Troy Day, but it’s been overused in the past several decades by leaders who 1. don’t really know their Bibles, and 2. depend too much on concordances and other leaders’ messages. I only use topical for the basics: Inspiration of Scripture, Th Fall of Humanity, The Tri-Unity of God, etc.

    • Troy Day oh I agree ? maybe I need to work on my Troy Day impersonation because my comment missed the mark. I think immigration, police brutality, homelessness, gay rights, marriage, racism, gender equality, politics, and other social issues should not only be covered by sermons but they should also be included in church culture, vision, and outreach efforts. Our churches are in decline because we are not addressing the issues of the day in a comprehensive and strategic way.
