The acceptance that Christ is the only person who was and is able to live a Christian Life.
What is our part in allowing Christ to live His Life through our mind will and emotions?
Will we ever grow into being more like Christ? How obedient to God must we become?
Why isn’t God more reasonable; He seems to be setting up us to fail?
Do you despair when the bible says that your normal Christian life includes?:–
1 John 2:6 “He who says he abides in Christ, ought himself to walk as Christ walked”.
Matt 5:44 “Jesus says you must love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you”.
Ro 8:36-37. Like Paul, Jesus promises problems “In all things we are killed all day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Yet in all things we are more than conquerors (overcomers) through Jesus who loved us”.
Col 3:12-15. Forgiving as Jesus forgave in the shame of the cross as he was blasphemed and murdered “Therefore as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, forgiving one another (including enemies), even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
But above all these things put on love (as Jesus did), which is the bond of perfection”.
Ro 8:28 “Know (and be thankful) that all things (including death of loved ones) work together for good to those who love God, to those are called according to His purpose”.
Phil 4:5-6 “Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be known to God”.
1 Peter 1:16 “Be holy for God is holy”.
Phil 2:14-15 “Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world”.
Matt 16:24 “Whoever desires to come after Me (Jesus), let him deny (hate) himself, and take up his cross (daily), and follow Me”.
Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to Me (Jesus) and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple”.
Have we honestly faced this dilemma?
If there is no answer then our enemies have every right to pity us.
Paul faced this dilemma in Romans 7 when he found the Christian life impossible.
V 18 In my flesh dwells no good thing.
V 24 Oh wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
Fortunately, for us, Paul did find the answer to this dilemma.
It wasn’t just a position of holiness, but a Living experience.
Heb 3:14 “For we have become partakers of Christ”
It is a participation in Christ; imitating Christ only leads to legalism and Ro 7 experience.
Gal 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now life in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Gal 2:21: I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
