Brody Pope | PentecostalTheology.comI believe healing is provided for all in the atonement. Anybody else?
And GO!
Ricky Grimsley
Amen. It does however raise the question why salvation seems to be way more common than healing. It seems like they can go hand in hand.
James 5:14-15 KJVS
[14] Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: [15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
William Sterling
That’s one of the 16 AG fundamental truths. Is it physical healing? The apostle Paul never seemed to receive it and neither have I.
Grover Katzmarek Sr
Yes but I had a friend ask me a question a couple months ago I’m still thinking about.
Do we have a divine right to healing if we are eating things that are unhealthy and we know it, or doing other things that are unhealthy for us.
Billy Winneroski
Respectfully, disagree! I’m a 44 year spina bifida, and hydrocephalus ‘survivor,’ and like the Apostle Paul prayed 3 times for his thorn to be removed, mines still here, too
Terry Wiles
Especially healing from sin.
Ricky Grimsley
Paul’s situation was different than normal imo. Obviously we should eat healthy just like we dont cut our arm on purpose and then ask god to to reattach it.
Bernard Jefferson
I believe it.. I was healed

Provided for all perhaps. But the better question is who appropriates it. Or as others have said perhaps physical healing wasn’t necessarily the point.

1. There is no exegetical basis for cessationism (continuationism is biblical and anecdotal in church history….see Craig Keener; Jon Ruthven).
2. Word of Faith or views that imply all are healed all of the time or it is sin, lack of faith, etc. are extreme and unbiblical, unbalanced.
3. Not all tradition is truth. I am part of sister organization to AOG (PAOC). We may say healing is in the atonement (Is. 53 proof text), but I do not think the Hebrew supports this. There is provision for healing, forgiveness of sin, eternal life, etc. in the person and work of Christ. However, if healing was in the atonement in the same way that forgiveness is, then all who confess it should be healed (just as we are saved when we confess/trust Christ).
We need a theology of suffering, understanding of faith, factor in the sovereignty of God, reality of fallen world vs eschaton, etc.
There is some complexity and mystery in this subject. I think it is simplistic and probable error to make physical healing identical to redemption in Is. 53 (we can and should pray for vs demand healing, but ultimate freedom is in a resurrection body and the eternal state).

The kingdom is now, but not yet (Ladd, etc.). We are not in the fulness, yet, but can have a foretaste.
Grover Katzmarek Sr
I contend that the kingdom began with the first Advent. Even early church fathers (first – third century) attests to this believe. Only those who are looking for a millennium are looking for a future kingdom which is merely a Jewish belief.

There is provision, but there are other factors. If it was in the identical sense to forgiveness, we would just have to confess the healing (Word of Faith ideas) and all would be healed all of the time. This is simply not the case, so I think AOG, etc. overstates this.

Could homosexuality be healed from and does this make it something to be delivered from?
William Lance Huget
Homosexuality is volitional, a choice. Same sex attraction may be complex, but acting on it physically is ultimately a choice. Deliverance, discipline, obedience, etc., but I do not think physical healing is the issue (unless there is rare genetic or hermaphrodite, etc. issues).

Of course healing is provided for in the atonement. That’s not really the pertinent question. The real question is: Is everything provided for in the atonement immediately revealed?
