Pentecostal Theological Seminary: Doctor of Philosophy Program Announcement

For several years, a significant goal of the PTS vision has been the inauguration of the PhD degree program. Following extensive preparation, self-study, and an onsite focused visit from ATS, the Association of Theological Schools Board of Commissions recently approved the Doctor of Philosophy degree program to be launched at PTS this fall 2024.

The PhD program prepares students to be scholars and teachers of religion and theology, requiring mastery of a specialized field—either Biblical or Theological Studies. The program purpose is to cultivate a Wesleyan-Pentecostal interpretative perspective as students pursue their studies developing constructive Pentecostal scholarship. The program will include preparation for the teaching vocation through a seminar-style course experience and the process of adequate teaching opportunities. The PhD is a 60 credit hour degree program offered in on-campus and online hybrid formats.
