| PentecostalTheology.comSo what can be deduced from the Hebrew verb as to the creation process? Instantaneous fiat event, or long drawn out process? Or an obscure meaning, indefinite as to time?

God said, Let there be light and there was light. Light began to travel at 186,000,000 miles per second. God separated light from darkness. There was evening there was morning, the first day. No sun, no moon, no stars in their orbits until day four, yet God lit the earth in the day and made it dark at night.
The verb “God said” may or may not imply how long it took but the context does.

Michael Chauncey was there NO light before?
SO GOD who is light had NO light?
noooo
SOME GAP must have stopped it on earth …

Troy Day this does not logically follow.
God is light
God is everywhere
Light is not everywhere because it is dark in caves.
Either God is not in caves or the light God spoke in the beginning is not exactly the same thing John meant in 1John 1:5.
The light that is visible to the human eye and the light that entered the world on Christmas are two different things.

Michael Chauncey correct – your logic failed you once again today but I could understand how it sounds logical in your head so early 🙂

Troy Day it was dark here in my room last night, where did God go? Nowhere. He was here all along. This doesn’t prove the gap theory happened overnight nor does it prove it in Genesis One. The Gap theory is nothing but a vain attempt to add millions of years to the Creation account.
The heavens, the earth, the sea and everything in them were created IN six days. Exodus 20:11. Why not just believe the Bible?

Michael Chauncey yes it was
It is still dark in your theological thinking
and pretty foggy too – maybe even groggy
BUT you will need to defeat many great theologians
In their plain simple logical arguments from the BIBLE
about GAP theory being real and scriptural

Troy Day great theologians since the 1800s? Gap Theory is a recent modern invention attempting to explain the geological collum.
In six days means in six days. Earth and heaven are included in the six days. There’s no place for a gap. In your unscriptural doctrine, the earth and heaven were created, then the gap, then all that is therein. Just believe the Bible and drop the silly gap nonsense.

Troy Day sure, The Gap Theory was written by great Theologians but Exodus 20: 11 was written in stone by the finger of God.

Michael Chauncey Live holy and righteous, and I will let you go through the Great Tribulation (Things Jesus NEVER said)

Troy Day I’m 100% pre-trib

I believe that is 186,000 miles per second (not 186,000,000).
