This is a very, very old article, but I’d still like to know the opinion of this international missionary community

I pastored for a year in Chicago Metro and came in contact with David Lorency’a work (Billy Rayburn was metro overseer) with cross cultural ministries in Chicago. cross cultural ministries was incredible there.

Charles Page [11/09/2015 2:20 PM]
There was a strong Romanian work in Chicago.

John Kissinger [11/09/2015 2:34 PM]
There still is. Which church did you pastor?

Charles Page [11/09/2015 2:38 PM]
trying to remember. It was the church on the metro office property.
Glenellyn, I think was the area.

John Kissinger [11/09/2015 2:39 PM]
you dont remember which church you pastored? 🙂 Timothy

Charles Page [11/09/2015 2:40 PM]
Some things you work at forgetting!

John Kissinger [11/09/2015 2:41 PM]
There only couple of churches in the actual metro then

Charles Page [11/09/2015 3:05 PM]
Illinois was separate from Chicago metro and there were churches on the out skirts of Chicago in the metro there were numerous cross cultural churches in the metro at that time.

John Kissinger [11/09/2015 4:06 PM]
Great Lakes. So you pastored a cross-cultural church?

Charles Page [11/09/2015 4:16 PM]
yeah, Kentucky, cross cultural –

Charles Page [11/09/2015 4:19 PM]
Lorency gave me a personal tour of late night Chicago cultural ministries – it was amazing!! it seemed to go on 24 hrs!

Charles Page [11/09/2015 4:28 PM]
It was Park Boulevard Church of God in Glen Ellyn – don’t know if it is still there.

John Kissinger [11/09/2015 5:55 PM]
yes, you were in the metro about as… [well you know]. There were only 3 English speaking CoGs in Chicago Metro around 1995. I think there’s only one now and Glen Ellyn is about Wheaton. If the zip does not say Chicago, IL it’s probably not within the metro – but you knew that

Charles Page [11/09/2015 5:57 PM]
I was there in the early 80’s

John Kissinger [11/09/2015 6:00 PM]
given – the metro has grown some since then but anything pass the 290 loop is not metro and pass 355 is in Chicago about us 373** zip is in Atlanta 🙂 Speaking in Chicago, how are the churches in Cleveland, OH bro Melvin Harter ?

Charles Page [11/09/2015 6:22 PM]
at that time Chicago metro included the churches in DuPage county

John Kissinger [11/10/2015 6:17 AM]
so whats your view on church internationalization Charles ?

John Kissinger [11/11/2015 9:12 AM]

John Kissinger [11/30/2015 3:17 PM]
Charles Page So you propose absolutely NO internationalization?

Charles Page [11/30/2015 3:18 PM]
only voluntary international cooperation.

John Kissinger [11/30/2015 3:21 PM]
hm – that would stop intentional imperialistic missions BUT it will also stop any missions whatsoever

Charles Page [11/30/2015 3:30 PM]
I witnessed this struggle while living in Germany.

John Kissinger [11/30/2015 3:39 PM]
exactly my point Charles Page the question however is HOW; most churches dont even have a clue Peter [cross post that Link] Alan http://cupandcross.com/internationalization-or-naturalization/

Charles Page [11/30/2015 3:49 PM]
MOST CHURCHES are under the influence of the Mission’s representatives and that is why they don’t have a clue. The only contact the local church has is in the area of missions fundraising. Most representatives are under competition to raise the most missions money and the mission money is sacred.
