ORDINARY CAN BECOME EXTRAORDINARY – Ray E Horton
When someone wote that “We all grasp for meaning and purpose in our mostly ordinary, average lives,” it resonated with me and brought back memories of my more youthful days. I wrote:
Seeking the Lord for More
Suddenly, it was a whole new life experientially – no more an average, ordinary life, but an extraordinary life
“Growing up, I always wanted to be somebody, to make an impact. Even after being born again, I was getting discouraged with the routine humdrum of life in my late 20’s – early 30’s. As I whole-heartedly sought the Lord for more, He suddenly broke in and I was Baptized in the Holy Spirit.
“Suddenly, it was a whole new life experientially – no more an average, ordinary life, but an extraordinary life, overflowing with the love of the Lord and a heart set on fire. That happened at the end of 1973, and despite some ebb and flow, it has never waned over these 45 years. When we seek, we find – I did beyond my wildest dreams.
“To me, I see: 1) the Romance, the wonderment of the child; which soon is followed by 2) the Disillusionment – ‘Is this all that life is about?’ It is then, with that hunger, that we must seek for more from the Lord. And His response will bring 3) the Joy, whether it be in the form of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, as it was for me, or simply the rich knowledge of who we have become in Christ.
Nothing Can Steal the Joy
“When that joy is established in the knowledge of the truth, nothing can steal it from us.”
