| PentecostalTheology.comREPEATING A PRAYER OR CONVERTED IN HEART? – Ray E Horton
Why do many people in lukewarm churches walk away from the faith? My question is, did they ever come to know God in their hearts? It’s one thing to repeat a prayer, and another to be converted in heart.
It’s one thing to repeat a prayer, and another to be converted in heart
“But what does it say? ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.’ This is the word of faith that we preach: that if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:8-9).
Believing in the heart, in other words conversion, is key to salvation. This is the “Word of faith” that Paul preached, very different than mental assent.
Do More than Seek Decisions
So, when we witness, we need to pray for the Holy Spirit to do the work and not just seek decisions. He will, because it is His desire, for God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:4).
So, let us not be too quick with new converts, but ground them in the Good News, the Word of God’s grace, so the Lord can reach their hearts.
That’s called discipleship, and we are called to make disciples.
