Why should we accept the Bible, or any book, as correct without good evidence?
Do you assume that any book you have is true without proven evidence that that is the case?
Millions of people believe the Qur’an is the word of God without the need for any evidence. And the Muslim faith is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. One simply needs to have faith to see that the Qur’an is the word of God and that Allah is God and Muhammad is the prophet.
The Book of Mormon is accept by millions of Americans as the word of God. And many will “testify” that they have had an experience; a warming of the heart or their chest as evidence that it is true.
If one is a Christian, then one’s approach to the issues I have raised will be one of defense; apologetics. “It must be the Word of God, because I had an experience with (God, Jesus, Allah, etc.)
It must be clear to some people that not everything we believe is true. No matter how strongly we believe it. Whether we were raised in a particular belief or we converted to a belief, is not reason enough to simply accept what we believe.
Is the Bible true?
Well, there are historically referenced people and places, but what does that prove?
It was once thought that the city of Troy was simply a Homeric myth. Until Troy was discovered. What then, does that prove that Zeus exists? That all that is said that he had done in fact happened? That all the miracles that are attributed to him are true? But archeology supports Homer? There are cities and reference that he mentions that are true?
If archeology supports Homer, why not accept that?
It is suggested that archeology supports the Bible, at least some of the history. Does that mean the Bible is completely true? No.
If one begins with an objective, non committed perspective, how would they view my points:
1. Mistakes in the Bible.
2. New Testament Mistakes.
If someone was not a “Christian,” and read my points, would they still consider the Bible to be something more then mythology?
In his book “99 Questions People Ask Most About the Bible,” Don Stewart says, “The benefit of the doubt should be given to the Bible, not to the critic, and the work should be assumed to be correct until some evidence is brought forth contradicting what has been said.” (p.29)
WHY?
There is not a history book nor a book attributed to someone that has not been questioned. Plato; Aristotle; Homer; even Shakespeare have been questioned. No historian simply accepts Josephus or Philo simply because it was written down and thought to be a history. It has been discovered that much of it is true, but parts are in question.
So, why can we not question the Bible?
I suggest that it is because either we were raised in a Christian home or we were converted. Meaning we had a salvation experience by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Now if someone was to question that… (?)
You see, the Bible must be true or we are not saved. Never mind any evidence to the contrary.
“There has to be a God and there has to be a heaven, because that is where my family and I are going.” “That is where my father is…” or “That is where my son is…” etc.
“God exists and he loves us. So, he communicated with humankind through his word and his word is the Bible.”
My tendency, given the evidence, is that this is a throwback to our childhood need for make-believe. The need to believe in magic. The need to believe that there is a heaven so we can continue to exist. That there is something greater then us, and we call it God. And that this creator of the universe loves little itty bitty me and my family.
With what little proof exists I once believed. But the closer one examines it, the less likely it appears to be true.
There are answers to the mistakes in the Bible. Sometimes any answer will do. But not all of them can be answered. So the mistakes remain.
But it is not simply the mistakes that prove the Bible to be of human origin, it is the origin of the Bible that proves it.
Salvation experience aside, and all of the assumptions that go with that experience, the Bible is a collection of writings written and collected by human beings and only human beings trying to find and discover answers to the questions of life.
Jesus may have been an interesting person, but only a man. People after him told tall tails of someone that became a God. But since there is only one God, we create the trinity, etc.
And the myth continues.
I have made the choice to only believe what is true. But that is a choice I made. No one else has to make such a choice.
You can continue to believe that there is a God, that he had a son, and that his son died for you. I did.
I no longer hold to this belief because the evidence does not support this belief. But that has not stopped millions of people from believing this nor the Qur’an nor the Book of Mormon. People will believe in false beliefs long after I am gone.

There are literally tens of thousands of strong evidence that show the impossibility for man to have written the Bible without Divine inspiration and guidance. Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do nor add to His words, or He will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
Revelation 22: 18,19 clearly says not to take away anything away from His words or add anything to them. This was written long before the koran or the book of mormon. And just so it’s been said neither the god of islam nor the god of mormonism is the God, the Great I AM, the God who is the same yesterday, today and forever of His book about man, the Bible. As for evidence, if you honestly look into it the evidence for God’s book about man, the Bible is overwhelming and whether it’s true or not is not up to the finite opinions of man, Roman’s 1.

It is difficult to challenge peoples beliefs.
Like most people I hold to my beliefs dearly, so I’m sure everyone else does, so for someone to question your beliefs and suggest they are wrong is insulting.
At the same time many Christians feel like they’re saving lives by preaching to Mormons, Muslims, Hindus and atheists.
I don’t think I’m saving anyone’s life. I’m only interested in what is true and for those people that might be in the same boat, I’m looking for them.

Do you believe in a Creator of all things, seen and unseen? Would this Creator be something that man can define and completely understand or would He necessarily be more complex and knowledgeable than we?
If, as Creator, He would be more advanced and complex than we, His created beings. How then could we define His Being? How could we be correct in our criticism of His writings to us?
Look at your relationship with your earthly father. At what point in your life did you understand him fully? I am the 2nd son of 4. Both my father and I were called by God to serve Him, professionally, but he was a pastor and I became a chaplain after a full career as a respiratory therapist. Have I gotten to the point where I can say I understand my father? Not completely. It is far easier for me to pick out our differences than it is to criticize him as a father! How much more has my Divine Father distanced Himself than my earthly father?
God left the Bible for His followers to read in order to better understand who God is. It is not a complete description, but it helps us understand the basics for us to use as we move forward in our developing relationship with Him. It represents Him as Truth and at times seems contradictory because we were not the original listeners to His Word. We must remember that “Context is Everything” as we attempt to understand concepts told to us from One who is so much more than we will ever be!

What is the Bible?
The word “Bible” comes from the Latin and Greek words meaning “book,” a fitting name, since the Bible is the book for all people, for all time. It’s a book like no other, in a class by itself.
Sixty-six different books comprise the Bible. They include books of law, such as Leviticus and Deuteronomy; historical books, such as Ezra and Acts; books of poetry, such as Psalms and Ecclesiastes; books of prophecy, such as Isaiah and Revelation; biographies, such as Matthew and John; and epistles (formal letters) such as Titus and Hebrews.
What is the Bible? – The Authors
About 40 different human authors contributed to the Bible, which was written over a period of about 1500 years. The authors were kings, fishermen, priests, government officials, farmers, shepherds, and doctors. From all this diversity comes an incredible unity, with common themes woven throughout.
The Bible’s unity is due to the fact that, ultimately, it has one Author—God Himself. The Bible is “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16). The human authors wrote exactly what God wanted them to write, and the result was the perfect and holy Word of God (Psalm 12:6; 2 Peter 1:21).
What is the Bible? – The Divisions
The Bible is divided into two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. In short, the Old Testament is the story of a nation, and the New Testament is the story of a Man. The nation was God’s way of bringing the Man—Jesus Christ—into the world.
The Old Testament describes the founding and preservation of the nation of Israel. God promised to use Israel to bless the whole world (Genesis 12:2-3). Once Israel was established as a nation, God raised up a family within that nation through whom the blessing would come: the family of David (Psalm 89:3-4). Then, from the family of David was promised one Man who would bring the promised blessing (Isaiah 11:1-10).
The New Testament details the coming of that promised Man. His name was Jesus, and He fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament as He lived a perfect life, died to become the Savior, and rose from the dead.
What is the Bible? – The Central Character
Jesus is the central character in the Bible—the whole book is really about Him. The Old Testament predicts His coming and sets the stage for His entrance into the world. The New Testament describes His coming and His work to bring salvation to our sinful world.
Jesus is more than a historical figure; in fact, He is more than a man. He is God in the flesh, and His coming was the most important event in the history of the world. God Himself became a man in order to give us a clear, understandable picture of who He is. What is God like? He is like Jesus; Jesus is God in human form (John 1:14, 14:9).
What is the Bible? – A Brief Summary
God created man and placed him in a perfect environment; however, man rebelled against God and fell from what God intended him to be. God placed the world under a curse because of sin but immediately set in motion a plan to restore humanity and all creation to its original glory.
As part of His plan of redemption, God called Abraham out of Babylonia into Canaan (about 2000 B.C.). God promised Abraham, his son Isaac, and his grandson Jacob (also called Israel) that He would bless the world through a descendant of theirs. Israel’s family emigrated from Canaan to Egypt, where they grew to be a nation.
About 1400 B.C., God led Israel’s descendants out of Egypt under the direction of Moses and gave them the Promised Land, Canaan, as their own. Through Moses, God gave the people of Israel the Law and made a covenant (testament) with them. If they would remain faithful to God and not follow the idolatry of the surrounding nations, then they would prosper. If they forsook God and followed idols, then God would destroy their nation.
About 400 years later, during the reigns of David and his son Solomon, Israel was solidified into a great and powerful kingdom. God promised David and Solomon that a descendant of theirs would rule as an everlasting king.
After Solomon’s reign, the nation of Israel was divided. The ten tribes to the north were called “Israel,” and they lasted about 200 years before God judged them for their idolatry. Assyria took Israel captive about 721 B.C. The two tribes in the south were called “Judah,” and they lasted a little longer, but eventually they, too, turned from God. Babylon took them captive about 600 B.C.
About 70 years later, God graciously brought a remnant of the captives back into their own land. Jerusalem, the capital, was rebuilt about 444 B.C., and Israel once again established a national identity. Thus, the Old Testament closes.
The New Testament opens about 400 years later with the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. Jesus was the descendant promised to Abraham and David, the One to fulfill God’s plan to redeem mankind and restore creation. Jesus faithfully completed His work—He died for sin and rose from the dead. The death of Christ is the basis for a new covenant (testament) with the world. All who have faith in Jesus will be saved from sin and live eternally.
After His resurrection, Jesus sent His disciples to spread the news everywhere of His life and His power to save. Jesus’ disciples went in every direction spreading the good news of Jesus and salvation. They traveled through Asia Minor, Greece, and all the Roman Empire. The New Testament closes with a prediction of Jesus’ return to judge the unbelieving world and free creation from the curse.

Is the Bible God‘s word?
The fact that God gave us the Bible is an evidence and illustration of His love for us. The term “revelation” simply means that God communicated to mankind what He is like and how we can have a right relationship with Him. These are things that we could not have known had God not divinely revealed them to us in the Bible. Although God’s revelation of Himself in the Bible was given progressively over approximately 1500 years, it has always contained everything man needs to know about God in order to have a right relationship with Him. If the Bible is truly the Word of God, then it is the final authority for all matters of faith, religious practice, and morals.
The question we must ask ourselves is how can we know that the Bible is the Word of God and not just a good book? What is unique about the Bible that sets it apart from all other religious books ever written? Is there any evidence that the Bible is truly God’s Word? These types of questions must be seriously examined if we are to determine the validity of the Bible’s claim to be the very Word of God, divinely inspired, and totally sufficient for all matters of faith and practice. There can be no doubt that the Bible does claim to be the very Word of God. This is clearly seen in Paul’s commendation to Timothy: “… from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
There are both internal and external evidences that the Bible is truly God’s Word. The internal evidences are those things within the Bible that testify of its divine origin. One of the first internal evidences that the Bible is truly God’s Word is seen in its unity. Even though it is really sixty-six individual books, written on three continents, in three different languages, over a period of approximately 1500 years, by more than 40 authors who came from many walks of life, the Bible remains one unified book from beginning to end without contradiction. This unity is unique from all other books and is evidence of the divine origin of the words which God moved men to record.
Another of the internal evidences that indicates the Bible is truly God’s Word is the prophecies contained within its pages. The Bible contains hundreds of detailed prophecies relating to the future of individual nations including Israel, certain cities, and mankind. Other prophecies concern the coming of One who would be the Messiah, the Savior of all who would believe in Him. Unlike the prophecies found in other religious books or those by men such as Nostradamus, biblical prophecies are extremely detailed. There are over three hundred prophecies concerning Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. Not only was it foretold where He would be born and His lineage, but also how He would die and that He would rise again. There simply is no logical way to explain the fulfilled prophecies in the Bible other than by divine origin. There is no other religious book with the extent or type of predictive prophecy that the Bible contains.
A third internal evidence of the divine origin of the Bible is its unique authority and power. While this evidence is more subjective than the first two, it is no less a powerful testimony of the divine origin of the Bible. The Bible’s authority is unlike any other book ever written. This authority and power are best seen in the way countless lives have been transformed by the supernatural power of God’s Word. Drug addicts have been cured by it, homosexuals set free by it, derelicts and deadbeats transformed by it, hardened criminals reformed by it, sinners rebuked by it, and hate turned to love by it. The Bible does possess a dynamic and transforming power that is only possible because it is truly God’s Word.
There are also external evidences that indicate the Bible is truly the Word of God. One is the historicity of the Bible. Because the Bible details historical events, its truthfulness and accuracy are subject to verification like any other historical document. Through both archaeological evidences and other writings, the historical accounts of the Bible have been proven time and time again to be accurate and true. In fact, all the archaeological and manuscript evidence supporting the Bible makes it the best-documented book from the ancient world. The fact that the Bible accurately and truthfully records historically verifiable events is a great indication of its truthfulness when dealing with religious subjects and doctrines and helps substantiate its claim to be the very Word of God.
Another external evidence that the Bible is truly God’s Word is the integrity of its human authors. As mentioned earlier, God used men from many walks of life to record His words. In studying the lives of these men, we find them to be honest and sincere. The fact that they were willing to die often excruciating deaths for what they believed testifies that these ordinary yet honest men truly believed God had spoken to them. The men who wrote the New Testament and many hundreds of other believers (1 Corinthians 15:6) knew the truth of their message because they had seen and spent time with Jesus Christ after He had risen from the dead. Seeing the risen Christ had a tremendous impact on them. They went from hiding in fear to being willing to die for the message God had revealed to them. Their lives and deaths testify to the fact that the Bible truly is God’s Word.
A final external evidence that the Bible is truly God’s Word is the indestructibility of the Bible. Because of its importance and its claim to be the very Word of God, the Bible has suffered more vicious attacks and attempts to destroy it than any other book in history. From early Roman Emperors like Diocletian, through communist dictators and on to modern-day atheists and agnostics, the Bible has withstood and outlasted all of its attackers and is still today the most widely published book in the world.
Throughout time, skeptics have regarded the Bible as mythological, but archeology has confirmed it as historical. Opponents have attacked its teaching as primitive and outdated, but its moral and legal concepts and teachings have had a positive influence on societies and cultures throughout the world. It continues to be attacked by pseudo-science, psychology, and political movements, yet it remains just as true and relevant today as it was when it was first written. It is a book that has transformed countless lives and cultures throughout the last 2000 years. No matter how its opponents try to attack, destroy, or discredit it, the Bible remains; its veracity and impact on lives is unmistakable. The accuracy which has been preserved despite every attempt to corrupt, attack, or destroy it is clear testimony to the fact that the Bible is truly God’s Word and is supernaturally protected by Him. It should not surprise us that, no matter how the Bible is attacked, it always comes out unchanged and unscathed. After all, Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Mark 13:31). After looking at the evidence, one can say without a doubt that, yes, the Bible is truly God’s Word.

No other book in history has been examined, ripped apart, and otherwise scrutinized more than the Holy Bible. Archeologists use it as a starting point when looking for a lost cities…historians use it for a deeper understanding of the cultures mentioned. But there is one irrefutable fact: Old Testament prophecies have proven to have an accuracy rate of 100%…Which is one of the reasons why the Holy Bible has been #1 best seller for the last 500 years.

You said you no longer hold onto this belief. Does that mean you once did before you started to feel the way you do now? And if you did once believe, what happened bro? Were you ever born again? The reason why I ask is because if you are truly regenerated by the Spirit, there is no way you could even make the claim that Yeshua Hamashiach was just a man, an interesting person and from what I understand you saying that man created the Trinity initiated by a tall tale of someone that became “a god”? And I use a little g here because my friend you are not referring to YHWH. If there is no YHWH, how did all that we know of come to being? How did we get here? What is our purpose for even existing? The complex nature of the human body and mind, our consciousness which by far didn’t just appear as a fart in the wind. The way everything works together perfectly, the Sun, moon, nature everything in perfect context working together. This earth how amazingly put together to sustain life as we know it. And why not other planets? Why isn’t there life on say Mars? Just this planet perfectly made for us. By a Creator. A supreme designer. Just like it took a designer to create the blueprint for your house and a builder to build it. From reading your long plea, I take it that you have spent some time in the Bible. But what really happened to make you feel the way you do? Out of all the religions in the world, if the Bible wasn’t true, then why is it the most hated book by people than any other book ever questioned? Why does it stir up so much controversy? Why is this the one book they try to eradicate? You don’t see that with the Koran, the Catholic Bible, the Hindus, Buddhist, Mormons, or any other religion like with Christianity? Why is it that it is Christians who the world is trying to silence, slaughtering around the world in mass numbers? Can you explain that to me? In the Book of Genesis 8-4 it says on the 17th day of the 7th month the Ark came to rest on the Mount Ararat. They found it in Turkey. On MOUNT ARARAT. Proven by scientists and archaeologists. How is that among many other historically documented proofs especially the most important of them all which is the resurrection of the Lord Yeshua Hamashiach, how is that logically possible if the Bible written by men, inspired by the Holy Spirit was not true? I am not gonna sit here trying to prove to you anything. I am not Yeshua Hamashiach trying to tell the Pharisees who I am. But I will tell you this. I believe in the Bible because it reveals to me who YHWH is as well as why I am here. I believe in YHWH, thee YHWH of the Bible, the one and only TRUE YHWH because in my darkest day, He revealed Himself to me. He delivered me when Drs could not from a life of self destruction. Child abuse and abandonment which led to drug addictions, homelessness, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and attempts many times and I’m still alive. Medical ailments from my kidneys, blood sugar and others, all gone. Freed by Jesus. That is my faith. Trusting and believing in someone I can’t see, but intimately I know He is there because I feel His presence everyday. And actually you can see Him in His Creation. So having said that, the Bible is true in its entire context, YHWH is real and the only YHWH and I’m not talking about Allah but YHWH, the YHWH of Israel. And you are in my prayers. I can’t save you or bring you to Yeshua Hamashiach. All I can to is bring you the Gospel but I’m sure you already know what that is. Only way you can come to Yeshua Hamashiach is if the Father YHWH gives you to Him and Yessir l Yeshua Hamashiach is the One who can change your heart. Your in my prayers bro. Love u man. Be blessed.

As I am reading through these posts, I find myself agreeing with the people that question my motive.
I am beginning to think whether you believe in God or not is not as important as how you choose to behave.
If you’re a good person, what difference does it make if you believe in God or not?
If you’re showing kindness to someone who’s begging on the street what difference does it make if you do it because you believe in Jesus or because you believe in Allah or because you’re a humanist?
Hopefully I’ve learned because now I wish I could withdraw this post.

The BIBLE has 66 books , written over 1500 years ago, 40 different authors from different walks of life, written in 3 different languages, Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic,written on 3 different continents, Africa,Asia, and Europe . They all point to a sacrifice! They all point to a blood sacrifice! In the end they all point to Jesus Christ as that final sacrifice and as the WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE !!!! The textual and extra biblical evidence supporting the Bible and its claims are light years above any other ancient texts! A little research can go a long way my friend. Even the things that occurred to Jesus were well documented outside of the Bible by historians. The Bible prophesied concerning over 300 predictions about Jesus and the date of the Greek translation of the Old Testament called the Septuagint is about 287 years B.C. well before Christ came into this world as a babe in a manger.

You came to a false conclusion because you wanted to and for no other reason than to suit your own agendas and narratives.
For a start, you failed to identify God, which means you couldn’t be bothered coming to the knowledge of God for yourself.
You indicated being a traditional believer by family or friends, though a forced belief, not one you made your own.
If you had of come to the knowledge of God, you would have realise Christ ended Theocracy so post Christ no Religion, denomination, cult or any brand one likes to identify God as, has any authority authenticity or validation whatsoever, none at all.
Christ said I am the Way the Truth and the life and none can come to the Father but through me.
Islam denies Christ is the Son of God and they deny that Christ died on the Cross and was raised the 3rd day, so scripture clearly calls them the Anti-Christ and the bible mentioned the false prophet, so what is not understood here?
You also didn’t bother to validate God for yourself and test the premise God set mankind for direct evidence of Himself.
You never bothered to come to the knowledge of God and identify God as He described Himself long before science had the capability to confirm the physical falsifiable Evidence of God.
The evidence of God has always been available either directly or physically, though unfortunately for most, faith means all I require the end, rather as faith was required for the beginning of coming to the knowledge of God.
You instead have adopted what exactly?
Science cannot tell you the origin of the universe.

Science can’t provide the observable, measurable, consistent evidence of continental drift start rate compared with today.

There are 4 major categories of gods/God to identify and excluding the Israelites account, there are 7 underpinnings that identifies one original origin of one God that was once worshiped all over the world until generational perversion in the pursuit of position, wealth, privilege and power to control the masses was adopted.
Exactly the same thing is identified post Christ and one would be naive not to recognise exactly the same thing in secularism, so mankind absolutely knows no depth whatsoever to their wickedness, lies and deceptions to suit their own agendas and narratives, their own motivational and emotional self determination to suit themselves.
You have adopted nothingness simply because you failed yourself in not coming to the knowledge of God for yourself as God requires all mankind to do so.
God said my people die for lack of knowledge and you are clearly evidence of that, you confirm scriptures!

Jerry Spencer prove to me that you are not a bot that was programmed to attack Christian Fb pages. A bot could easily be coded to pick certain words and make responses and can even mimic human emotions. The more I think about it the more that the evidence leads me to conclude that you are a bot. Especially, the way that your program makes fundamental errors in reiteration of what I have written. Unless you give me proof, I shall continue to believe and know that you do not exist in a real and tangible way.
