Today we look at one of England’s Greatest preachers.

CHARLES SPURGEON: http://andnowyouknowmore.blogspot.com

Charles Spurgeon was to nineteenth-century England what D. L Moody was to America.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, was born in a little cottage at Kelvedon, in Essex, (still standing almost unchanged since that day).
He was one of 17 children. For some reason Spurgeon was sent to live with his grandparents at the age of 18 months. There he lived with his grandfather for six years. His grandfather, James Spurgeon, ministered to the church at Stambourne for 54 years.

The preacher started pastoring at 19 in rural England accepted a pastorate in London and built at church of 10,000. With no amplification. The Catholics stampeded his church yelling “fire” many were killed. It’s said it affected him the rest of his life. I think his best work is “the treasury of David” it’s a good reference for any preacher on the book of Psalms. It makes a great gift for any young preacher going into the ministry. Lectureso to my students and “Soulwinning” are also great works. For me he’s kinda like the last puritan.
