What has happened to tarrying for power in Pentecostal churches?
What happened for folks tarrying for salvation? now all you have to do is go forward say a sinner’s prayer… people used to beg God to save them, seems we need that today. However today is the word of faith movement and God is subservient to our petitions.

One dos not need to beg to be saved. Jesus died for the world, all we need to do is repent. Salvation is by grace , not by works. If you are trying to say that many are not really penetrate and just go through the motions, than I agree.

few believe that salvation is by grace and not works so no begging for salvation at all, true! but few also don’t understand being unworthy of salvation, depraved, unfit…that should be the struggle for folks. Salvation is easy, grace-but accepting that God loves us and freely saves us should be a great struggle. That struggle should remain with us till the end.

It was replaced by the simple laying on of hands to receive teh Baptism of the holy Spirit.

Because, it really wasn’t a biblical mandate to tarry, I don’t see anywhere Jesus, said to tarry or I.e…..beg for something that he freely gives!!!

If we truly believed that tarrying was a mandate we could also then say that we should all be going to Jerusalem to receive that power. Luke 49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. (KJV). :/

They should be tarrying for a second work of sanctification. Holy Spirit will fill a holy vessel without us begging! Un-sanctified people have to beg a reluctant baptizer.

tarrying for salvation is determined by the theological filters you use to experience God. That is the reason for so many denominations.

Not sure I read in the New Testament that we need to beg for salvation. That said, waiting (the current word that has replaced “tarrying”) on God, particularly for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, is a lost art

I haven’t read where you have to begGod for anything. The Lord told Moses to hit the Rock and water would come. That was in reference to Jesus would be smitten on the Cross one time. But after that He said speak to the Rock. Moses was a very with the Israelites complaining. So he hit the Rock again. That’s the reason he couldn’t enter Canaan. Because Jesus will never have to pay for our sins again. Once was sufficient. Noe we just have to speak when we have a need. The way I see it.

Didn’t He tell them to tarry until they be endued with the Power from on High. Or until the Holy Ghost came. After it came and they were all filled. I can’t see where it says tarry after that. If we have to , we need to if we find it hard to receive. Because of doubt , maybe. Or afraid it will be them and not The Spirit. But think it just says after they tarried and theHoly Ghost came. I thought it said after that to receive the Holy Ghost or Spirit in some places in the Bible.

We are never told to tarry after the experience of Pentecost. Power in the body of Christ was assumed in the epistles.

Acts 2 the apostles waited tarrying for 10 days
Acts 8 the Samaritans waited tarrying since the preaching of Phillip
Acts 9 Paul waited tarrying for 3 days
Acts 10 Cornelius was led by the Spirit to wait and tarrying for 4 days
Acts 19 They’ve been waiting tarrying since they believed
