OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD

“…LORD, the God of heaven, THE GREAT AND AWESOME GOD, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments…” (Neh. 1:5-6) [This chorus written and first recorded in 1988 by Rich Mullins has become one of the most popular worship choruses ever written. “Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from heaven above, With WISDOM, POWER, AND LOVE, Our God is an awesome God.”] “Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. FOR THE LORD MOST HIGH IS AWESOME, the great King over all the earth. He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.” (Psa. 47:1-3) [Yaw-ray’: A primitive root; to hold in the highest regard; to be held in reverence. Our Abba Father is infinitely above the most noblest of all of His creation, higher than the highest; there such perfections in him that are to be reverenced by all, and predominantly that power, holiness, and justice, that are to be dreaded by all those who contend with him.] “So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed: “LORD, THE GREAT AND AWESOME GOD, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act…” (Dan. 9:3-5, 19) [It was while Daniel was still in prayer that the angel Gabriel came to him in swift flight! Wow, what a way to receive an answer to prayer! Maybe we should expect that God would send us answers to our prayer by angels, if we pray with fervency in obedience to God’s promises! Gabriel signifies the mighty one of God; for the angels are great in power and might: 2Pe_2:11] “He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, CONSIDER THE WORD AND UNDERSTAND THE VISION: “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.” (Dan. 9:22-24) [More to follow:]
