10 Reasons to Choose Life

For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother’s womb.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well.

My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them.

Psalm 139: 13-16

1. “You formed my inward parts.” God himself forms the intricate cells that make life possible. One living cell has more complex moving parts than an entire modern automobile factory. From the moment of conception all of the information reqiured for the development of the fully formed adult body is present in highly complex genetic code.

2. “You covered me in my mother’s womb.” God covers the delicate and vulnerable unborn child in the protective covering of it’s mother’s womb. This enironment provides nourishment, oxygen, blood circulation, elimination of waste and ample room to develop and grow. This points to the Providence and care of our wise and loving Creator who loves us even more than our mother does.

3. “I am fearfully made.” God is holy. All he does reflects the righteousness of his character. His attributes are demonstrated in all of creation.(Romans 1:20) This should give us a sense of deep reverence for God and respect for the sanctity of the life he created.

4. “I am wonderfully made.” God alone can truly be called wonderful because he alone performs wonders. The wonders of creation reveal our wonderful Creator. He truly is Wonderful, Councelor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.

5. “God’s works are marvelous.” To marvel is to be struck with awe and amazement. Modern medical science has made it possible to peer into the development of life in the womb. Marvelous is the word that best describes the handiwork of Our Maker.

6. “My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in secret.” God’s watchful care over us, his divine superintendence over our life from conception to our final breath and on into eternal life in his presence never ends.

7. “I was skillfully wrought.” Man has the skill to make computers but none has the processing power to match the human brain. Aircrafts are made to imitate birds in flight. Engineers study the designs of the Great Master Designer of the universe to make thier machines but none rivals the skill of the Almighty.

8. “Your eyes saw my substance being yet unformed.” The deist thinks God is like a clockmaker who made his clock, wound it up, walked away and forgot about it. Our Heavenly Father is not an absentee landlord. In the words of the gospel hymn, “His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me.”

9. “In your book were written the days fashioned for me.” Both the prophet, Jeremiah and the Apostle, Paul wrote about God’s choice of them and plan for their lives and ministries from their mother’s womb. John the Baptist’s path was prophesied before he was concieved and he was filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb. You are not an accident of evolution. You were made on purpose and for a purpose. The events and accomplishments of our days are already recorded in God’s book before birth. He’s the author and architect of you faith and of your very life. He’s still writing you story.

10. “When as yet there were none of them.” God has perfect foreknowledge. Nothing takes God by surprise. Before you think a though, before you speak a word, God knows it entirely. There’s no place in the vast universe you can go.from his presence. All of this gives us confidence that our lives really matter to God and that we have real value from the very moment of conception.
