Should Pentecostals PRAY for Donald TRUMP’s presidency?

Many were shocked when first saw the video posted with lead Pentecostal televangelists praying for Trump in his NY tower. Afterwards, there two or three prophecies affirming his presidency coming from some limited Charismatic circles.

Just the other day, I came across a Call for Prayer on behalf of Mr. Trump posted by someone who seems to be a member of this group. I am respectfully leaving out his identity allowing him to jump in the discussion, but here’s what he wrote on another board:

“Trump is in the lead and he could be our next president. I keep looking for ways someone else could win. It’s possible. I do like Trump’s boldness. I think his boldness and the fact that he projects power attracts a lot of voters. I like the fact that he wants to defend Christian and is against political correctness. But I don’t know his political philosophy, whether it’s changed enough from the past, and I’m concerned about the insults and bullying. But let’s all pray for the man, that the Lord will touch His heart and give him His agenda.”

With Trump winning SC, NV and from what I understand now the Spanish vote, today Regent University is too calling attention to Trump in a live interview with Regent founder, chancellor and CEO Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson. WHAT is NEXT for AMERICA?www.regentalumni.org

Corey Forsyth [02/24/2016 7:47 AM]
Wouldn’t this open that “God is in complete control” debate? Since there are groups praying for their favorite candidate, no matter who it is, it seems to me that either God already has His candidate picked for victory, He doesn’t really care and leaves it to the people to vote, or it depends on which group prays the best. ??? I look forward to the firestorm that is likely to follow… LOL

Not sure but why the event would not open here : Join us live for our third forum on Wednesday, February 24 as we welcome Donald J. Trump, who will share his vision for America during a live interview with Regent founder, chancellor and CEO Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson. David Brody, chief political correspondent for CBN News, will moderate the event and audience Q & A. http://www.regentalumni.org/controls/email_marketing/admin/email_marketing_email_viewer.aspx?sid=832&eiid=2865&seiid=2423&usearchive=1&puid=8097788e-3d59-41ac-bd46-9ac4e1ef44af

It’s all about Supreme Court justices. Better to swallow pride and vote Republican this year and then pray a prayer of faith for that person whoever it is.

John Kissinger [02/24/2016 9:52 AM]
Very peculiar and speculative theory of why the GOP has not stopped Trump. Trump captures the nation’s attention on the campaign trail. The increasing unlikelihood of an “anybody but Trump” bandwagon coalescing fast enough around another candidate is causing a lot of pre-nomination autopsies about what in the world happened. https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/02/23/my-very-peculiar-and-speculative-theory-of-why-the-gop-has-not-stopped-donald-trump/?wpisrc=nl_az_most

David Lewayne Porter [02/24/2016 6:19 PM]
Robert Jamieson If you don’t believe in revival, what is your point of being a part of Pentecostal Theology? Notice the historic results and effects of Pentecost. (And I am sincere in looking for your answer).

Troy Day [02/24/2016 6:35 PM]
This is the religions of the current GOP candidates:

Rubio: Roman Catholic with LDS background Bush: Roman Catholic and Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Kasich: Anglican – with Catholic background Carson: Seventh Day Adventist – incl. annihilationism (no hell)

Cruz: Southern Baptist Trump: Presbyterian PLUS Hillary’s a good ole Southern Baptist gal 🙂

Terry Wiles [02/24/2016 6:42 PM]
Lol. Christians can’t agree on the existence of the Trinity. How can you expect this group to agree to pray for Trump? I’m sure some won’t agree to “pray for those who despitefully use you”.

Troy Day [02/24/2016 6:48 PM]
Rubio: Roman Catholic with LDS background Bush: Roman Catholic and Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Kasich: Anglican – with Catholic background Carson: Seventh Day Adventist – incl. annihilationism (no hell)

Cruz: Southern Baptist Trump: Self Appointed Presbyterian

Robert Jamieson [02/24/2016 8:08 PM]
Hmmm, i wonder Dave if you understand what theology is. Being a theologian has nothing to do with revival, nor can it bring revival. Theology is as separate from revival as a fish is from the air. I believe there have been revival, but you would write that i should not be in this group. As to the “historical” result/effect of pentecost, it was an effect that soon wore of. No one practiced pentecostal theology, most joined Roman Catholic theology. So again, what has my post got to do with my position in this group ? Paul said there would be an apostacy, Jesus asked if He would find faith on earth before He returned, or would you prefer the original Greek to assist you in your question?

Robert Jamieson [02/24/2016 8:12 PM]
Troy, hilary clinton is a liar, trump is a liar, cruz is a liar etc etc etc… politicians lie when their lips move. Trump is the best candidate for America, Clinton is going to jail, cruz/carson cant afford to run along trump.

David Lewayne Porter [02/24/2016 8:39 PM]
Robert Jamieson Who is dave? If you are talking to David Porter, it is David.

Yes the original Greek would be nice. If the greek is what you need to answer a simple question. As far as your discourse on theology verses air, ok, not my question other than theology being the study of God. As far as Pentecost wearing off so what. So they got lukewarm, cold at best. Joel still stands valid and true Chapter 2:28 & following.

As far as your position and your post, you simply seem very down on Pentecost. I was interested in why.

Now in reference to finding faith on the earth?, I agree whole heartily. Yet the harvest field contains tares and wheat.

Jesus also said the harvest was great and laborers were few Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

So then being a part of Pentecostal Theology, you do not believe in a harvest/revival? You do not think Pentecost will have any thing to do with that?

Before you get upset. It is a real and genuine question. I am simply asking for informational purposes, not to prove a point.

Jimmy Pearson [02/24/2016 9:39 PM]
I am disappointed and disturbed at the amount of professing Christians voting for trump. It shows a tremendous lack of discernment. A man says he has never felt the need to ask forgiveness of his sins and people believe this is a man who will represent their values and defend their rights? What troubles me is not that he may be elected but what this campaign is revealing about the American church. As always the Lord will raise up whomever He wills to accomplish his purposes in the earth and bring glory to His name.

Charles Page [02/24/2016 9:43 PM]
God has apparently appointed Obama to accomplish his will in the earth and bring glory to His name. Anyone we elect will accomplish the will of God and bring him the glory!

Jimmy Pearson [02/24/2016 9:48 PM]
Sometimes the judgement of God on a nation is to allow it to be lead by wicked men. I believe it is very possible that this is where america is right now. It’s not so much whom we elect but who God appoints for his own purposes.

Robert Jamieson [02/24/2016 9:51 PM]
Day of pentecost is over. No end time revival, Jesus harvest was for His time. Tadaa 😉

Robert Jamieson [02/24/2016 9:56 PM]

    David Lewayne Porter I know we should not like NY Times for being liberal and saying Trump has now less than 20% chance to win but they are now saying he has borrowed lots of money from China? For example, an office building on Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan, of which Mr. Trump is part owner, carries a $950 million loan. Among the lenders: the Bank of China, one of the largest banks in a country that Mr. Trump has railed against as an economic foe of the United States http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/21/us/politics/donald-trump-debt.html?_r=0

    America itself as a nation owes so much money to China that it can never be truly repaid.
    They own us already.

    There should be no surprise if trump has as well.
    The option is a woman (female) that just simply takes money (millions) from nations that publicly and very vocally say they want us destroyed and continue by saying that they will be the ones to do it. Then add to that the simple fact that she still says they are poor, at the point of bankruptcy.

    I am NOT an avid trump supporter.
    Yet I am NO clinton supporter either.

    A libertarian will just split the conservative vote which pulls votes against hillary away from the opponent who has a chance to defeat her.

    So, that leaves what as the option?

    America rejected the better candidates. As such she is going to get what she asked for, is asking for, and will ask for in the future (they did not retain God in their knowledge);

    Isaiah 65:2-3
    I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;

    Romans 1:28
    And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

    I personally sit and contemplate this one;
    Inventing evil things….
    Romans 1:30
    Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, …..

    Buckle up america,
    Here we go.

    Dr. Dobson’s comments about Trump and Clinton are well worth considering, but mostly what he said about our need to pray for our leaders – whomever is elected – and for the nation. Nor should we ever fail in our prayers if it appears again that all is well with the nation, for then we will fall right back into similar hard times as we have experienced in recent years. The Bible clearly demonstrates the impact prayer can have on the welfare of the nation, and subsequently upon our personal lives as well. Seek God through prayer and in all humility and repentance. In that way God will forgive us and heal our nation (2 Chronicles 7:14). http://drjamesdobson.org/news/dr-james-dobson-on-trumps-christian-faith#.V5WWcw9YUS1.facebook #WHATEVER on this article here – yap, #WHATEVER http://www.charismamag.com/blogs/the-strang-report/27382-donald-trump-deals-with-issues-of-faith-family-and-religious-liberty-in-this-exclusive-charisma-interview

And your young men will see visions. And on my servants and my hand maidens. Will I pour out of my Spirit. And they shall prophecy. I the Book of Joel in the Old Testament. And in Acts of the New Testament. It looks like what some of you believe, and teach. You need to repent and read the Word. It will tell you exactly where we are standing. It sounds like a lost generation. If I understand you correctly. I’m not trying to judge. Just want you to know what the Bible says and believe it. Does anybody remember the whole spat with Fundamental Baptist pastor Steven Anderson (Faithful Word Baptist Church, Tempe, Arizona)? Anderson derided Obama to the point that he publicly said he was praying for Obama’s death. Now, obviously, like many Christians in our country, I do not agree with Obama’s policies (and the long-standing liberal policies of this nation for the past 40+ years now). But Scripture teaches me to pray for ALL that are in power. (I Tim. 2:1,2). It’s simply bad testimony on our part to have malice towards even unbelieving authorities (Rom. 13:1-3; Tit. 3:1).

    As much as we want a righteous leader for our nation, (or as close to it as possible), let’s keep in mind a couple of things: 1. God often used unbelieving, even harsh rulers to accomplish His ends (try Nebuchadnezzar or Cyrus). 2. When God judges a nation He will often given them the kind of ruler they deserve (Think of Rehoboam or Ahab and Jezebel). The state that our nation is in now, with the rampant homosexuality as its’ banner brings to mind the fact that this is ALREADY a sign of judgment on the nation (Rom. 1:24,25). If we get Hillary, this means that God’s judgment is hastening. If we get Trump, it isn’t a cause for the Church to relax. All I have to do is remind us about Nixon, Carter and the two Bushes. During the terms of these “conservative” presidents, a Globalist, leftist agenda was accomplished ANYWAY. Ronald Reagan wasn’t a great scion either since he helped in beginning to legalize homosexual activity and full involvement in society back when he was governor of California.
    You will remember also that it was “Reaganomics” that spurred easy credit. (And the way prices were going up, people were increasingly forced to use more and more credit. This was, loud and clear, the “frog in the pot” scenario. In 2007 we got boiled alive and it’s still continuing).

    I pray for president Trump ( whom I did vote for) and I prayed for Obama (which I did not vote for) the same. We must pray for our leaders rather we feel they are the right or wrong man for the job.

    Pente means 50 which represents the 50 days after Jesus ascended into heaven and He promised a Comforter. The Comforter appeared on the 50th day which happens to be celebrated today this year.

    Chris Westerman you seem to suggest that engaging in a bitter ‘culture war’ in order to preserve America’s formerly dominant Christian culture has been largely a failed strategy but I will submit that you may be too late for any of that
