Another question might be asked. Do you need a suit to preach? Is your identity or power in a suit? I think it’s best taken in context of culture. Would were a suit to a shooting gallery, where they shoot dope? Or say the jungle? So if there is some decency or modesty what the real issue? Is this a real question?

A preacher shouldn’t be fat. Period. He is supposed to have the fruit of temperance. And not be a glutton. Nor “wrought the will of the Gentiles when we walked in…banqueting.”

    • Reply April 7, 2017

      Scotty Searan

If a preacher shouldn’t be fat, then the members shouldn’t be either. Being fat does not mean you’re a glutton.

  • Reply April 6, 2017

Trump is not a spiritual leader. He is a secular leader. Be something else other than a pastor if you are obese. A plumber, an electrician, a mechanic. You can still be a Christian, go to church, etc, but not a spiritual leader.

Pastors and Christians have different life standards from the same Bible?

    • Reply April 6, 2017

      Jan Dixon Sykes

James says leaders have to toe the line to be leaders: “Be not many masters, knowing that we receive the greater condemnation.”” Timothy says pastors have to be “blameless.” …….. We rank and file laymen are supposed to be transformed, too, but we are obviously still in process or we could be leaders, ourselves.

Did Jesus make a distinction between his disciples and the multitude here? If one is required to do one thing, then all required to do the same. God is no respect of persons. Matthew 5:48 King James Version (KJV)

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

    • Reply April 7, 2017

      Jan Dixon Sykes

That’s right, Scotty, NONE of us is supposed to be obese. People who are obese die about ten years ahead of those who are not. One of God’s promises to us is “if any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.” So why would any leader model defiling the temple of God with too many junk foods and processed foods to the point of obesity? James clearly says the penalty is even greater for those leaders.

No one should wear them skinny jeans. Christians should dress like The Bible says.

  • I think people focus on clothing too much (female as well)! If he is preaching the word of God and souls are being saved and the spirit is in the midst, who cares what they wear! There are a lot of heavy set Christians!

    • Reply April 7, 2017

Did I post on this topic in the past? I remember thinking it. I visited a church when I took a trip this summer, and the man preacher looked like Joyce Meyer from the waste down in his skinny jeans. His message was good, as I recall. But he couldn’t pull the skinny jeans off– metaphorically of course.

Troy Day Never met her. My only real connection with Joyce Meyer is that I met this young woman from church. My wife prophesied to her when she was in Hawaii that she would work with Joyce Meyers, which happened later when she went to the mainland.

Looking on YouTube, a lot of the thumbnails are of her standing. Here is a video of her walking around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNCia4D1734
