Tim Hall | PentecostalTheology.comSo apparently there’s a new trend growing in the church many churches are playing some rock and other secular music to make people feel more relaxed and more at home. Some say we have to slowly acclimate people to Christianity. WOW! Isn’t that like saying I can cheat a little on my wife until I get acclimated to marriage, or miss a few days work a week until I get acclimated!
We already have churches that have removed the altar (one Pastor said- it’s offensive to sinners) I heard that one myself, and another said remove the cross (it reminds us too much of death and blood).
Let that sink in!
How much more change will take place to remove or do away with everything resembling a church or Christianity! IT seems like it’s anything goes to draw a crowd today. I would rather have 40-50 and preach them the truth and be living right than fill a building and lead a flock to hell. Pastors and ministers we won’t be judged on the size of our church or the size of our ministry but we will be held accountable for not preaching the truth. You don’t have to follow a trend, Jesus said follow me.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
When you walk in Walmart every aisle has reminders that “this is Walmart” we are not ashamed of who we are we are proud of who we are. Look at the back every car you see today they proudly say we are Chevrolet-Ford-Chrysler-etc.. they aren’t ashamed. Let’s Sing about Jesus and be proud to, let’s use the altar and be proud to, let’s promote the Cross and be proud to.
I want my church back!!

It goes with the watering down of the Gospel. We want to make people “feel” good. The Gospel doesn’t make people feel good, it makes them uncomfortable because it addresses their sin and need for a Savior.
Oh, did I say sin. I forgot that in today’s world we call it illness, disease, a small glitch in my character.
The Gospel needs to be preached! We don’t need to be like the world, because we’ve been called to be separate. Yes, it is uncomfortable. Yes, it means some people won’t like us or what we have to say. What the world needs to hear is the Gospel, the Truth. We must stop watering down that message to be politically correct or make everyone feel comfortable.

Hi Tim, while I stand in full agreement that such should not be our practice, 2 Cor 6:14-18 had to do with Christians going to and participating in pagan temple worship. That is what Paul was addressing and the unclean thing was not unclean people. IMHO it is a bad passage with which to reinforce your initial thoughts.
